I published 5 books with 3 different big publishers. I did very well on 2 books and earned back significant advances on the 3 books that did less well. I am moving into KDP in part because of my age. I don’t want to wait 2 solid years from concept to publication, nor do I want to deal with publishers changing my titles or editing out details that mattered to me. I have already published 5 books that were learning experiences for me. Now I plan to jump into figuring out the social media marketing. I appreciate all I’ve learned from you.

$20 per hour doing what job? I earn €12-13 gross per hour which is even less in USD, and that is considered "good" on an average scale, given that food is probably cheaper in US and we pay even more taxes and not complainig about it as much as an average American.
@SeanDollwetАй бұрын
Why focus on the $20 an hour example when that’s not even the point I was making
@sanjinmujkic7171Ай бұрын
@@SeanDollwet Oh, don't get me wrong, I know the point you are making. I have been following your videos for a long time and have already published a book. I really believe in this business model, but I am referring to the fact that now I understand why people, including me, who are outside of the US can't really invest in stuff. I would love to be able to join your program, but as it is, I am struggling even to pay my rent while still working a full time job. Although I still appreciate it, I am stuck with free content and doing everything myself. It is good fortune that I am a graphic designer and a DTP Specialist, so I know how to make HQ covers and formatting. I am not using Canva but rather Adobe Indesign & Adobe Illustrator for my books. I am telling this only for you to try to understand while a lot of people get a blockade or are demoralized by this...or any business model actually. Why they are so tipped about "investing". That's the only tip that ticked me, everything else you said is pure gold. Thank you for making a free content for us.

My biggest goal in life is to become a novel writer (I'm learning the craft of writing for years now until I think it's good enough). There's nothing above artistic realization. No money. Nothing. But atm I'm studying and working + writing, researching, rewriting. I have the advantage of a little time off now from work. Earning money like this would be a dream and I'm rotating this idea in my head for a while now... BUT I live in Germany and we have much regulation, taxes, you need a legal notice on the product if you earn money with it (publicizing my name and address?? Who wants to do this?) Will I waste my little time? In all those videos it seems as if you just sit down, generate things and that's it... Things like these crucial considerations/possible legal traps demotivate me before I start. I will give it a try as soon as my exames are over but the fear of a trap (taxes, legal notice etc.) is there. I know real cases where people "just did it" or how regulations torpedo their businesses. Germany doesn't really want you to be successful and independent, quite like all left leaning governments, the U.S. administration right now with their economical "aspirations". This is not an excuse not to do it, but it's an unconvenient pattern that I learned from people with own businesses I know.
