Fun Fact: Polaroid branded itself after the "polarizing" films and was one of many back in the day. The word polaroid thus became a short name for any instant film producing camera. You would say let's take a Polaroid. Now, some years later the tech is dated and not many can talk or know about all of the other, now gone, brands that produced "polarizing" films. Basically, he was right in calling it a polaroid although it can def come off as confusing in it's immediate setting but makes more sense in the larger context.

The depth of field is created by the sensor dimensions and the f Stop. So Putting another Lens on top of the other makes no sense. Remove the old lense and mounting another with an faster f stop would make sense but i dont think that would make a great diffeence. I think the biggest "problem" is the sensor dimensions and you cant change that obviously. So the solution is: just shoot with a full frame camera xD

Oh man... I'm not a photographer but every time someone shakes a polaroid it shivers me. You have to lay it face down until it is fully developed, only then does it reveal its true quality. A nice trick on a digital camera : turn the lens around and shoot through the front of the lens to get really nice macro images. I wonder if this works with Polaroid as well...
@leo-hao
@leo-hao Жыл бұрын
This is quite similar to a pretty well known technique to take macro photos with normal lenses on DLSR cameras. You can use a spacer between your lens and the sensor to artificially increase the focal length of the lens. Also causes an extremely shallow depth of field that is absolutely stunning but very frustrating to work with.

This guy is gonna love lomography. Was checking the comments to see if anyone had recommended this company/website. However was astonished by the amount of comments correcting the instax camera and instax mini film from a “Polaroid” yes it annoys me too😂however it’s like the hoover. It’s technically a brand name and the invention is a vacuum cleaner. Or Kleenex, that’s the brand of tissue. It’s a common practice, so people need to chill out😂anyway. Yeah lomography offer some creative ideas on the Fuji film instax cameras, allowing interchangeable lenses, different film backs, the use of coloured gels over the flash. Double exposure, bulb mode, etc. on multiple instax formats, or other instant film. They don’t really dabble in Polaroid, however they do with 35mm film and those cameras. Would highly recommend if looking for further creativity within the medium. As honestly that’s what the hobby is meant for, creativity.

I'm more bothered that he didnt just look it up. This already exists and has existed for a while. NONS has been making interchangeable lens instant cameras for a while now, and they also make the field expander to reduce vignette when using 35mm/FF lenses. Instant film is actually a medium format, so you have to decrease the focal length to get full coverage.

Everyone is harping on the fact that this is an instax camera, but I'm gonna point out the fact that unless you use medium format lenses, the fov won't be big enough to cover the size of the film. Also, if you use a lens that has diaphragm control (aka any lenses made after the 1970s), you will not be able to control the size of the aperture unless it's mounted on a lens mount converter.

You're adding a lens on top on another lens. Since there's no way to change focus or change the aperature on that lens manually you'll have to set it on your camera, the while the camera is turned on tkae off the lens. It works for macro cus you're both using basically using 2 lenses and using the wrong distance from back of lens to "sensor" (same way macro tubes work), a dslr lens might give a better result?
