she is great... the 230,000 views on you tube are a testament to her appeal. I am glad y'all like it. I saw her three times this year, The most recent was at the White Mountain Boogie and Blues Festival in Thornton, NH. She did "Spell on You" there plus songs from her new CD Black Wind Howlin. Her studio music is pedestrian, but her live performances and her jam sessions are ... they're thermonuclear weapons of pure soul and talent. I'd probably never buy a record from her unless it was from a live performance. Looks gorgeous too. Somehow when she gets really into the vocals and distorts her face up, that ugliness makes her even more amazing. Maybe because it shows her grit, her soul and how she abandons herself to the music. Divine. If there was such a thing as an "Angel of Blues" it would Samantha Fish.

Very good stuff, she deserves points for even trying this song. I was frightened off after my 3rd listening of the original. Hawkins was a blues singer who was also an opera singer. His goes from blues to opera and back with a lot shouting in between. He was so drunk at the time that he didn't even remember recording the song.
