Bought a Hzrdous Black Xshiff 65 gram shaft. Added 20 yards to my drives with the Kirkland head. Got it used with a Mizuno tip and a Lamkin grip for 70 bucks. The ball just explodes off the head now. Love it.
@jameshomer46793 ай бұрын
But how much was the shaft to gain 8 yards?
@zittyrrrs70823 ай бұрын
I know it's trendy to love everything Costco, but you mentioned getting fitted etc. Why does nobody talk about Benross anymore? It's readily available in UK. You can try before you buy. You can even get fitted to a limited extent. And it's cheaper than Kirkland but with a better heritage. 🤔
@cliffdiver19653 ай бұрын
Why not explore all avenues especially if you live in the UK? I live in the US and I was interested to try Ben Ross equipment.

Seems worth buying a second hand shaft on the cheap that you like and getting a mizuno adapter on it.

James-you mentioned the adapter being hard to get ahold of, I see I can order one online for $15. Is it the ST line adapter?

Hi James, when you hold up the driver just before setup, it looks as though you are shutting the clubface at slightly at address. Is this the case? If so, what is the benefit of doing this? Thanks

I wonder what I'd pick if I had to choose between a Costco driver with say a Tour AD or Fujikura Velocore shaft or a top end $600 driver with the Evenflow Riptide shaft that comes stock with the Costco driver. I know it should come down to which one I hit better but I'm talking about my ego.

The project x riptide black is great in my 3wood , but driver not so.. blue was better in pxg0211. My new 0311 ventus red tr is best , the black was to soft , tensi blue suited me better in the cold , but ventus when swinging well. So shaft is prob 70% of overall feel

@stevewashuta163416 күн бұрын
You buy the kirkland. You buy a used mizuno st with a better shaft. You swap, you sell the Mizuno with the other shaft. It's cheap overall when you play it right.

The Evenflow Riptide (assuming it's the real shaft, not a "made for" shaft) is a great shaft for slower swingers, and those with a smooth tempo. That doesn't mean it fits everyone, and your testing proves that certain shafts fit certain swings better than others. What you experienced has nothing to do with the quality of the shaft, but the fact you used a shaft that fits you better.
@jackvliet3 ай бұрын
Makes the most since to buy a used mizuno driver and then sell the head, keep the shaft

As it's in a Mizuno shaft, how about testing it against the newest equivalent Mizuno head?!?

@angrygardener24303 ай бұрын
James is a pro, with a much higher swing speed than Joe Average shopping at Costco and matching a stiffer/lower spin shaft produced results. But for slower swing speeds resulting in 220 yard drives the Project X Evenflow Riptide lineup might actually be the better option.

Everyone keeps asking what is the total price of the driver with the new shaft. Listen, you can get a Miz ST with a much better shaft used for $150. Kirkland Driver for $199. Then you swap shafts, sell the Mizuno back for $100. It cost you $50. No adapters needed. Not expensive.
@barrygoodson495212 күн бұрын
Now that the way to think through the whole process. That is exactly what I was thinking. Buy a cheap used Mizuno drive and switch shafts , Bingo you have a winner !

There's likely nothing wrong with the stock shaft. It's produced by True Temper and part of the Project X graphite series, though it's probably a "made for" version with cheaper materials than the top tier models. Based on the numbers, it looks like it was simply a bad fit for you as you benefited from the lower spin and launch provided by the UST shaft.

All we want to know is the cost of the shaft coz Mizuno drivers are not cheap 😂
@isthereanavailable3 ай бұрын
It depends on what fits you best and willing to buy new or used for a shaft. A similar uncut UST Lin-q shaft on 2nd swing is $195, so it'd be around $230 to $240 after installing shaft adapter and grip. The $430-440 total cost would still be cheaper than the new Callaway or Taylormade with the same upgrade shaft that is $750.

I don't think it's fair to make the blanket statement that the stock shaft is bad and the new shaft is better. More context is needed for it not to be misleading. The new shaft is clearly better for you but it is highly likely there are golfers out there who would hit it better with the stock shaft. It all comes down to fitting the individual golfer's swing which is why fitting would help but unfortunately is not available for Costco clubs as you said.
@rictic19293 ай бұрын
And why would anyone but a scratch golfer or better want anything different than this. The pros aren't going to like it or all the advertisers and marketers, but sure is great for the consumer. Keep sticking it to the overpriced, over marketed companies ripping the cosumers off. Good on you Costco.
