Royal Troon can humble any golfer in the world. I used to play my golf at the public courses in Troon and even they were ferocious, especially when the wind blew, which was always. It's what golf's about.

I played Royal Troon in May! Such a similar experiences we had. Started of with a lovely drive, made par on the first. Then it started to get hard, and then most of the rest of the holes just ganged up on me and said 'Lad, you need moore practice, you are not ready for this fight!' and left me with some scars to remember the fight by... Granted, it was my second round outside this season. Before the trip I watched the "movie" they made with just Henrik and Phil's shots, and some commentary, I played it in a simulator. But I was not prepared for how undulated it really is. I thought some tee-shots from the yellows were intimidating, can't imagine them from the black, but then again I play of 8 handicap. The cameras don't give credit to how tight those fairways are, I left my driver in the bag on a lot of holes just to hit the fairway. I'm surprised you let it rip on almost every hole, finding some awful lies. It is an amazing course, I really enjoyed being there, and I hope to play it again, perhaps a bit further into the season!
@thewildbill86 Жыл бұрын
Mr. Finch, I think it says and shows much more of you as a golfer and as an ambassador or golf, that you accept your poorer moments and let the average golfer see it, than some of the channels I see that ONLY hit good shots and oooonly have low scores. Thanks for being real.

Burst out laughing whilst in the works canteen when you said "good nine putt" after the 6th hole, tremendous sarcasm! 😂
@JasonkmLi Жыл бұрын
Just goes to show how important driving accuracy is. When Pete was approaching from the fairways, he was tap in pars. But coming from the rough meant a tough up and down, scrambling for pars resulting in bogeys most of the time. All of that stemming from wayward drives.

Great video and a fun watch! This type of content rings true with all of us. We relate to the struggles, the collapses, the hope that is the back 9 (until it begins) and the overall emotional rollercoaster that is GOLF... the nastiest of ALL four-letter words (and yet so beautiful). She's my mistress. On another note, who are you playing with? Who's the jovial and socially rambunctious stocky, bald guy? What a cheerful delight he must've been to play with! It seemed he got happier as your score started going up. I seem to recognize Hannah... from Rick Shiels maybe? "Beth"... now she's a hottie...

Those par 5’s were brutal…I feel your pain! I go in thinking easy par, potential birdie, miracle eagle…then have the wheels fly off hitting every tree and bunker along the way! If there was a tree 4 inches in diameter in route…I’d manage to put myself in position and find a way to hit it!

Be pretty cool to do a video series of if i was on vacation in the UK. 1. Golf course, play and history of the course and about the town, village or city. 2. Accommodations. Where you stayed. 3. Where you had lunch or dinner or pub. 4. Local attractions near or around the course you played. Maybe vist a castle, a hike, beach or town festival. Something that someone visiting might do if in the area. None of these has to be long drawn out just a taste of the local fare. Just a thought...

We all have an ‘off’ round. Tbh, I’d be happy if my ‘off’ round was just one damn hole. But, for me, one bad hole carries to the next and to the next and next thing I know I shoot 90. Looking forward to more videos. Keep ‘em coming!

I absolutely love the passive-aggressive behavior. That is how all golfers good or bad feel most of the time when things go South. I had the great pleasure of playing "Royal" Troon in a gale with spitting rain. Played great on the front nine then, as you know, the back nine is almost always into the prevailing wind. Limped in 38-45 and exhibited the same passive-aggressive aggressive behavior as you. So much so that the group behind felt sorry for me and attempted to console me in the clubhouse. I love the content. Get that power fade back with the driver and 60's are in sight!!

Enjoyed watching the video. Shows why, just when one thinks it's a 'gentle' start and the course has perhaps lulled the player into the classic 'false sense of security', RT's bunkers, rough, undulating fairways and tough greens (and surrounds) can bite the player hard and not let go 😰😱. It's a fabulous place to play the wonderful game. My one question for you though Peter would be - why as such a big hitter - are you playing the course off the yellow tees? I'd have thought white tees would be a more appropriate test for yourself?

Love what you and the team do Pete and love how much of an advocate you are for Scotland without even mentioning the golf. If I remember correctly, you still have a week of golf to play up my way in Aberdeen… I believe there’s still a back 9 that’s screaming to be finished and a certain 18 holes that your dodgy internal satnav cruelly denied you the chance of playing. Also in regards to the new headcover… Wallace the Westie or Tam the Terrier, you can thank me later.
