Maybe 3D print a new battery box next? Same shape because of the frame size but a little wider? Actually if you were going to make a new battery box maybe mount it under the rear rack but above the fender. Your channel is giving me ideas.

Amazingly good project!! You are the first I have seen to think out and plan your modification! Nice, Clean, and you have given me the idea that you can install any size battery in that original case! All you need is to have the height fit, and then you can cut out the case to allow a wide battery to peek out of both sides.... Then you just duct tape the case, and you installed a huge battery in that small area. thanks!

I was able to stuff a 10ah battery in a Jetson Axel with out cutting anything. I could probably fit a 2nd since the layout is longer but skinny than stock battery. I was planning on doing a dual battery setup on my nephews Bolt Pro but came across a FB Marketplace Jetson Axel that looked new and only needed a new battery for $125.

I really don't, however I'm in talks with power_battery on ebay, and I'll just have to see how that goes, and trying to get a POC, hopefully I can get them to create a custom molded version for the Jetson Bolt Pro, that would be ideal.

Hey new viewer here. Just picked up a Jetson Pro on sale at Costco and was looking at mods. Appreciate your innovativeness but for me instead of destroying the battery case I'll probably strap on the spare battery to the bottom of the rear rack and have a wire extend to the existing case so I can swap the plugs when I need the extra battery. Eventually I'll probably wire the two in parallel but want to play with the bike first.

Definitely play with it first, and when you feel more comfortable, revisit my playlist, I have other, less destructive mods, the the 48v, hardly any trimming upgrade. A good boost overall.

@@YouTruther Hi quick question now I've viewed several videos on batteries. I'm wanting to just add another battery on the rear rack to extend the range of the bike. Do you see why I can't just splice the positives and negatives of each battery ( in a parallel connection) and not worry about all the various connectors. I could still use the original charger without any modification that would charge both batteries at the same time. Would love to get your feedback. Thanks

@@philc.9280 In theory, it should work and voltage should equally drop, but not really. You will need a balancer: amzn.to/3T6LpSn this one is 30A, will be able to handle these batteries. I do plan to do a video on this topic in the future, but struggling to get a battery deal going with a certain vendor, so....... negotiations...... A 6 pin switch is another option, either way, you will have to deal with some form of connectors. You won't be able to charge both batteries at the same time unless the battery itself supports charging via main lines and a special connector. it's a bit complicated, but there is a company by the name of Date2X that sells these adapters for bigger ebikes, there are no inexpensive varieties that I know of.

@@YouTruther Thank you so much for your quick reply. I looked up the balancer for only $41. I guess my amateur knowledge of electronics is pretty simple but I do dabble a lot with LiFePO4 batteries in my home solar system. I know each of the home batteries have their own BMS system and I can hook up an unlimited number of batteries in series or parallel. Not really sure what the balancer is for as the bike batteries also have a built in BMS but again you know more about these bikes then I do. The simplest thing to do is just strap the spare battery on the back and when the bike battery dies just unplug it and connect it to the spare battery. @@YouTruther Got another reply from a youtuber that appears to be an engineer that commented on my issue. The balancer that you recommended will be useful if the batteries are dissimilar. If the 2 batteries are similar or at least within 0.5 to 0.75volt you should be able to wire them in parallel. There is a Y connector with the XT plugs or you can splice into the wires like I would probably do. What happens if you connect two dissimilar batteries the higher one will try to charge the lower one. I didn't get an answer on how you charge both of them together however.

wow, that was a lot of work, but you did it! i'm was thinking about getting a 20ah external but leaving the stock inside. do you think that ah is too high, it'd still be a 36.

the AH can be as much as you like, it's the capacity rating, you'll enjoy it. I have an upcoming video on 48v to see if it increases speed on top of capacity. My dream would be a 48v 20ah, as the voltage x amp hours = watt hour capacity, 48-20 gives significantly more than 36-20 by 33 percent. That said, I'll probably do a range test video next week so you can get an idea of the true range of this battery rather than see numeric figures. and yes, it was a bit of work, and the filming and video producing made it double as long. I have done that and connected the stock battery with a 36 volt 20ah battery. I get about 30 miles range with no pedaling. PS- you will do better in the installation if you lay it sideways on a table. the parts won't fall off.

OK I don't have the jetson bolt but I have a bike that is similar it's called a kugoo basically the same bike but uses 48v it is faster but the battery only does around 10 miles, so you stick a rack on the back and plug in a bigger battery on the back in parallel with the original battery this has been running this way for around 3000 plus miles i also suggest changing the handle bars to something taller for better handling. At 36v this bike is slow 48v is better.

thanks for the info, I do have a 48v battery going into another bike, like I said in the video, this one is strictly for range, 30 miles with some pedal assist would be ideal. Is that brand in the UK or something? I've heard of it, never seen it, like Ancheer, DYU, and lenigrid.

@@YouTruther Yes I think it is basically in the UK but the actual bike is identical except for the voltage, it also uses a 48v motor and all the other bits. It's a good bike solid stable at speed 3ven with little wheels. I have a 10ah on the rack with the 7.5 on the bike, it gives roughly 30 miles range with a few hills and I am not the lightest person in the world, so a light weight person would get more range of that I'm sure. Oh I forgot they are sold on ebay as the kugoo Kirin B2 their app on garbage doesn't work but their bikes do, they also do scooters.

Easier and better to do the extra battery mod as per the Shiva Sapkota KZbin channel. PS. You need to do an actual range test to see if you REALLY do get the extra range expected. A lot of times these aftermarket batteries are not as advertised (ie. less real caoacity) or cut out half way through.

Cao mm 36v 10AH, minor cutting with 48v 8ah, both have similar capacity, 48v is faster.
