2:11 I think that most contract jobs are just like that. Don't feel so bad about it. If you are like that, I suggest not pursuing consultancy and switching to full-time as an employee while doing freelance on the side. Good luck & God bless.

I agree, been there. Consulting is not really enjoyable for a very technical person. You'll get that guilt for not giving enough value for only giving suggestions and advices.

Sometimes you just gotta cut your losses. Those factors of team culture can play a big part, but not being able to learn more makes me factor in that either management wasn't giving enough time aside for development (heck we all learn something new) or the team had its issues beyond the scope of work. Of course if your going to do the grind the people matter most and then the code will come in time. Honesty and Integrity play a big part of getting more opportunities down the road because they'll remember especially in incubators.

It's weird - because I'm going through the same thing, I worked for my first company for 7.5 years and I even got promoted, but it was a dry promotion. I was working in a toxic env and when I reached out to my director for help, he and my manager framed me and forced me out. It was really painful, I then joined another firm, but could not focus due to a lot of sorrowness.
