Sorry to hear this! Crash pads are really rough. I lived in a crash pad for 6 months in JFK and it was difficult but I made it work until I got my transfer back home. This is something that I feel not a lot of airlines talk about when you get hired. You get thrown on the line and it's kind of like, "Good luck!." I hope everything works out for you!

Commuting is the worst part of the job. The 4 day trip is what you needed to finally understand that you needed to move on.
@tonyaanderson3113 жыл бұрын
Red roof inn has Cree rates . I chose that route instead of a crash pad. free shuttles to the airport, your own room, refrigerator and micro,. Completely worth it. There are other crew hotels around airports. If you are a true introvert that loves people and loves to travel

So so sorry for your outcome. I was really rooting for you. It is hard for a lot of FAs in the beginning, especially ones without finances and support to help them though the beginning. I wish nothing but the best for you and I will still be following your VLOG!!!

Thank you for following along! It was a very unfortunate situation, but I think things happen for a reason. I was in a weird state for about a week and a half, but now I’m happy I made the decision I did. Nothing will EVER be more important than my own health, and especially if a company doesn’t back you up-it’s just not the right employer for me. I had money-but the “crashpad system” is a messed up system to scam flight attendants IMO. & I wasn’t about to be a victim when I HARDLY made a $ to my name. I never got to fly, was on reserve ALL the time but never got called. It just wasn’t worth the stress and mental/emotional health for me at a regional airline. I hope for better things to happen in the near future!😉 and am almost positive they will!

It’s the same story for every FA regional or mainline. It definitely sucks in the beginning and this is not a normal job it’s a lifestyle.

I'm a flight attendant too. I am going to make a video on my channel about what you need to know before becoming a flight attendant one day! I wish this didn't happen to you. Yeah, finish housing is hard as ***. Especially with the prices rising.

Flight Attendant job is not for every body. All people think about is travel benefits, but they don't realize how hard it is. I've always wanted to be a FA, but I seen some FAs at the hotel I work at and I talked to others, and came to realize, it's not for me. Maybe, when I'm 100% single, bored and depressed, I will do it, but for now, no way...
@thalexinator50503 жыл бұрын
That’s not the way to go! Being a flight attendant-if it’s truly for you, you will buckle down and get the job you want. However, you have to be accepting OF THE JOB and it’s requirements. Meaning; commuting, early and late report times, not being paid during boarding, the pay, and not being home all the time. You 100% can make this job work with a support system and the right people in your life if you want it bad enough, but don’t scratch yourself the bare minimum like I did. Travel benefits are nice-if you’re someone who will actually use them but there is a lot more to being a flight attendant than others realize. Is it easy? No. Absolutley not, but you get what you sign up for and you agree to those when you do the application process and sign on within an airline. Being depressed is 110% not the way to do this job, you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others. Are there depressed flight attendants out there? Sure, but don’t take away from those who truly do love what they do and love their job. It’s what you make of it.

I worked for two different commuter/regional Airlines. The first one was a small Airline that did flying along the Northeast. The second was a larger regional. To compare the two I liked the smaller company. Unfortunately, like you, I had a crash pad hated it it was me and to other FAs they were with a different Airline. The second Airline I worked for I did not need a crash pad I held a lime right after training and the majority of the lines were commutable the Crews I flew with the 2nd Airline I worked for sounds a lot like you described. After I left the Airline Industry, I went to work for Amtrak Onboard Services I’m glad I left the Airline Industry

It’s super hard! The lifestyle is totally different than anyone would imagine. I’m guessing it’s easier for those whom come out of states where there’s big airports, and the company bases. But for people who come from a small town-it’s a HUGE adjustment. Hang in there! I’m sorry to hear your going through the thought process but just know you wouldn’t be the first and definitely won’t be last! You’re not alone! That’s why I quit. It’s tough-especially trying to find a means of living when you’re not from a specific area.

The first yr is so hard. Like alot of people have a hard time . I have so many friends who been through it and they all say the same. I went to training and totally didnt pass ( im still reapplying) but if you can get through reserve it gets easier. Makes more since. I feel bad this girl had a crappy experience though sounds like a nightmare. At least she passed and tried it to see if it was for her. Still have my fingers crossed for SkyWest.

I had something similar the difference was I had a free place to stay because I was based where my mom lives but my mom also had an on going thing with a terminal illness. I realized I couldn’t afford it at all on the regional I was with even though I had a place that would help me. The company took week to get me the details on where to send my stuff back, I sent that today and the mail company I sent my stuff back to was saying that it wasn’t a real address so we’ll see if I end up getting charged or not.
