Wow, this video popped up on my feed at the right time. Everything you said resonates so much with me, especially this idea that has been sold from childhood that the correct path in life is through education and then get a good-paying job. As if that would guarantee happiness. I am 10 years older than you are, with a house and a child, so unfortunately I cannot just pack up my life and move away somewhere on short notice. But I am pursuing content creation as well in order to quit my horrible corporate job one day. Just today I found myself having low motivation to work on my fifth video for my channel, but after watching this video I will get right back at it :D
@xdgs567z6 ай бұрын
I have exactly the same mindset and realizations as you! After graduating and finally working, I started to realize that my 9 to 5 job was not making me happy. Yes, I was making money and able to buy stuff with what I earned, I felt exhausted and unfulfilled. I started taking long vacations to poor foreign countries and found out I was more happy living a simple life in those countries. It didn’t take a lot of money and I wasn’t tied down by a 9 to 5 job. Whenever I go back home from these long trips to work again, I became depressed and exhausted again. Every year, I would look forward to my next long trip. But overall, I want that feeling every day of living a fulfilling life. Life is short. We shouldn’t wait until we are retired to explore the world 😅

Two things I've learned. 1) There is no free lunch (i.e. choose your hard), whichever path you take will have consequences, there is no silver bullet. 2) You only get to live one version of your life, you will never know what the "other path" would have been which tells you how fragile life is no matter what, we are extremely mortal.

I'm even watching this at my lunch break in my office; one of the banks in Msia lmao. This year has been hard for me, I have been preparing to quit for some time but each time I will say timing is not good & then again, who is to say when is the right time? 5:20 I have a similar story that haunts me: I saw one of the VIPs at my former job on a fairly regular basis - usually in the elevators. He was sooo excited about retiring, which he did in 2020 during the lockdowns. He moved across country with his wife to begin their new chapter. Sadly, he was unalived during a robbery a few weeks later. 😔 I keep thinking about how he waited alllll those years to retire only to pass away shortly after.😢

I need income to create stability, paying of student loan and helping paying my parents hospital bill. no choice . Ive been in the same industry and role for 13 years. No complain. Actually not that bad. Depends on how to balance and prioritize everything in our life.
