I became a stay-at-home wife/mom after covid. My husband said if I didn't want to go back to work, he would be totally fine with it, and we have never been happier. Our daughter is now 10 and I feel so relieved that my schedule is now centered around my family instead of my employment. Relief is the feeling. God is good, I feel so lucky blessed and calm.

I’m putting in a one month notice at my job today, so I can get ready to be a stay at home wife/mom. (I’m pregnant with my first.) I’ve been extremely terrified of making the transition (even though it’s literally always been the dream and we do feel like God has been leading us to this decision). I’ve been so afraid that I won’t have any motivation if I’m at home and I’ll just end up always being frustrated and overwhelmed. It is very encouraging to see moms/wives just going for it and finding joy and meaning and structure in daily home life. In our modern world it is truly easy to fall into the mindset of thinking because everyone else is working a full time job and being a mom then I must just be lazy or weird if I can’t do both. Thank you for reminding me that motherhood is an extremely important position worth pouring my energy/efforts into.

I cried watching this 🥹 I made the decision in 2021 to be become a stay at home wife and can relate to sitting in front of a computer and letting life pass you. My family (mainly women) judged my decision but I’ve had to ignore their opinions and trust my inner voice which was God leading me. I now am 4 months pregnant and getting ready to become a stay at home mom which is truly God answering a prayer. Thank you for touching on as African women not having examples of women who have become stay at home wives, moms, or even homeschooled their children. I’m learning that we are the new and few African women, wives, and mothers who are setting a new tone and pace to live the life God has truly intended for us. Thank you again for this inspirational video!

I have 3 kids - ages 12, 10, and 5. I’ve been a stay at home parent/ homemaker for 12 years. I went back to teaching briefly, for a year and a half, and it was extremely difficult. I chose to come back to being at home full time, and I’m sooooo much happier. My husband is completely supportive of anything I want to do, but I realized how truly happy being at home and being able to give my full time and attention to my family really made me. Going back to work completely drained me, didn’t make a huge difference financially (teachers don’t get paid nearly enough), and I was spending so much time lesson planning and prepping for my students that my own children weren’t getting the best version of me. I believe it’s all about choice, and I CHOOSE to put my family first, always, and enjoy the slower paced lifestyle. I support women, and men, doing what works for them and what makes them happy. I just wish people today didn’t still think that stay at home parents don’t contribute to society, or have a “real” job. It’s as real as it gets. ❤

I love that you tried to go back to teaching and realized it wasn’t a good fit anymore. Sometimes I think women struggle with the thought of regret. “Will I regret not returning to work? Will I regret not staying home?” You tried it and quickly realized what you really wanted and that’s beautiful. Thank you for sharing your experience. 🤎

I have been at home for 2 years now. Quit my 9 to 5 to work 24/7 😩😂😂😂 I love it so much. I'm more involved with the children's academics, growth and development and just their lives as a whole. And we welcomed our 3rd baby, and I am able to stay home and be her everything. It's a blessing. Being in the home and running it with my full attention is a blessing. And good for you too!

Currently struggling with this as well... ive already put in my 2 weeks because i just had a baby and i was being told that my home environment (even tho i work remotely) needs to mirror the office, meaning my child would need to be at day care during my shift. Im simply not comfortable with that plus she's a preemie so that's definitely a no-go for me. After much consideration and discussions with my husband, i decided it was best for my family. Even before i came to this decision, i felt the pull or the "calling" to be a homemaker. Mind you, i was very career oriented and took pride in earning a degree prior to starting our family. Now that my baby's here, i feel such a strong pull to just be present for her and my husband. However, im struggling to shake this odd feeling of guilt associating with quitting a job and not having another one lined up.

@starrjohnson1327 I'm doing great! I thought I would regret leaving my job but so far I don't feel that way. It's definitely a learning curve getting a handle of managing my time take care of my little one and the home but I feel more at peace. Even my husband has noticed a shift in my personality and he says I look happier, which I am. I thank God everyday for this opportunity because I know that not everybody can have the privilege of being a stay at home mom. I do still want to make an income but I'll look for ways that won't take me away from my priorities. I realized that my family and my home are my priorities, and I've come to peace with that.

Seeing this video come up on my feed two years after you created it, wow! 😂❤ Anyway, I loved it! I have been a stay at home mom for about five years, now. Home schooled my son in 2nd and 3rd grade, and then both he and my daughter had “online” school with a local elementary school, for a year to year and a half, during covid. Now that they are in 5th and 7th grade, do I miss the military, or billing? (I was in medical billing after the Army.) No, I do not. Even though my kids are no longer home schooled, being here at home is great, as I can take them to and from school. And when the kids have conflicting activities (sports, band, etc.) my husband and I are able to make sure each of us goes to one. That way, neither of our kids miss out on a practice or a game. Even better, both the communication between my husband and I, as well as with the kids, is so much better than before. Thanks again for the awesome video! And sorry for the long comment!🤣❤️👍

God put the family together before anything else. First the husband and wife, then followed by the children. There will be chalkenges...other distractions will try to come along to keep you away from your family, but keep at doing what is right for your family. Proverbs 14:1 says that a wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands. Homeschooling allows you to instill what's important to you and your husband, into the lives of your kids.

It's crazy this video came up when I just decided to go back to work in person andnit has been a rollercoaster of emotions. From co workers with bipolar attitudes who carry their personal to work to getting ordered around like a slave because I am the only African American girl there😢. Crazy thing is i actually enjoy the job because I connect with senior citizens and we do all types of crafts/games etc like getting paid to play (a dream job) but now the center is closing and us as the workers are left to explain to these ladies and gentlemen that had a safe entertaining place to come to will no longer have that available 😢 it sucks and its actually some women who treated us as we were a second family because they are widowers, have lost children etc. This is really tough for me to leave them😢😢
