As a long standing Patreon of BGC, I can say that it is one of the most helpful board game groups I’ve been a part of. The community engagement and support are great and the extra videos are incredibly helpful, especially the “To Back or Not to Back” series. I have huge appreciation to content creators who I feel being honest and open about areas of their life that not directly related to the content they create, so I really appreciate your openness and it reaffirms my decision to be a patron. I love how genuine you are in front of the camera. As for ads, I don't mind seeing them (as long as they don't cut you in the middle of a word like in case of some other channels). As for paid previews, I think that would change the essence of your videos in a some way but I can't and won't judge you if you will have to do it in order to monetize. I don't dislike paid previews per se but I know which channels to go if I want to see those and which if I don't. Just started watching your channel recently. Welcome to entrepreneurship! I jumped too soon, about 3 months into starting my business. Sounds like you are doing it a little smarter than me. This is the hardest scariest part, leaving your comfort zone. I'm six years in, I'll let you know when it gets easier. Kidding of course. Work your ass off which doesn't sound like that will be an issue for you but also remember to take breaks and recharge. Burnout is real and a lot more detrimental when you work for yourself. Wow! I can relate to your situation of the last 2-3 years! I can hear and feel the bitterness, stress, but with an overtone of excitement and gratitude for the privileged position you are in now. I am in an exact same position after 10 years of an initially exciting job. Three years back, my situation and happiness changed up to the point I had to quite my job this year and focus on, what feels like a new destiny, board game design and publishing. Something that started growing since 2018-2019. Some of the bitterness does gives me strength to flourish and be excitingly happy for what I am doing now. Most of the excitement and stress is for the uncertainty, true. On the other hand, there is an amount of freedom that will make you stronger. I wish you all the best with your plans and the things you will learn by executing them. I think you are doing a very good job so far! Don't forget that a family will get more inspiration from someone who is passionate of what their are doing.
