In today's video, I spend some time telling you guys about quitting my job at the bank. I hadn't felt THIS anxious about the whole ordeal until I got to filming the end part of the video where my boss literally called me a MONKEY.
This all happened a year and a half ago, so I've had lots of time and distance away.
My old therapist always told me that she noticed how important it was for me to tell my story. She's right! These past couple of videos have been therapeutic in a way for me. I've been taking weird/crazy experiences that have happened to me and turning them into art.
I hope you have been enjoying, and thank you guys for all of the support lately!!! I'll see you in the next one.
Love,
Camy

hey so the algorithm recommended this video so I haven't seen your other art vids at this point and I usually never comment, but I wanted to this time because your ability to tell your story is incredible? you're super engaging and your editing and story-telling skills combined create this really nice narrative flow that not only successfully keeps people's attention, but also gets them to empathize with you. i hope this creative art form continues to help you personally now and in the future! thanks for sharing your story. baddie group attendance

This video was genuinely one of the funniest you've ever done. Your style of video and editing is so fun and fresh, and it really puts an interesting spin on story times. Especially since I always found story times kind of boring to listen to someone talk, but your humor combined with your performing skills is what really makes me love these videos so much. As someone who worked with a corporate bank and the IT department I can tell you it only got worse the longer I stayed. It got to the point where I was actually quite suicidal because I felt like I was doing myself a huge crime my sitting in the work area I was in at the time and smiling and acting dumb for the pay. I literally took me into abuse for literal months, being made fun of because the way I looked, my ethnicity Even having people calling me auntie because I wore jewelry. It got to the point where I was so depressed that if I did not leave I probably would not have been here today because of all the teasing and being made fun of by grown ass people who watched it happen and also would laugh at it behind my back. It's something horrible to be considered exotic as people would call me, or intelligent for my background as many people reminded me. Be happy that you got out when you did, because if they were making jokes like that in front of you imagine what they were saying when you weren't in the room... Never let yourself be put through something like that, that was like 8 years ago I learned so much from that experience and now I did somebody to f****** talk about me. I stand up for myself a lot more and I have confidence in myself and my value to a company. Proud of yourself

People - please don’t be afraid to report your bully bosses to HR. Even if you don’t believe that HR will do anything, at least it will be on record that a particular employee of the company has had at least one employee report them for creating a hostile work environment. Workplace bullying is a form of harassment, which creates an unhealthy work environment, which is a violation of labor laws. An unhealthy work environment can lead to workplace related injuries, such as anxiety and depression. Document bad behavior, and then report it to HR as a formal grievance. Read the company’s employee handbook as soon as you get a new job.

This is soooo good and so relatable. Reminds me almost exactly of a country club bar job I used to have. Really small team, and all the locals used to love getting in on the gossip when they came in. The supervisor was ABSOLUTELY CRAZY, and she was dating the manager, who was a pretty down to earth and reasonable dude. The locals all loved me, I got on well with the manager, but the supervisor hated me. Always making bitchy comments and trying to get me into trouble. One time she sat me down and gave me a disciplinary because I (as a woman) dared to cut my hair short and she told me it wasn't appropriate and would upset the customers. Meanwhile the locals all loved the new cut and said it was bomb. She also used to get in massive fights with her boyfriend (who was the manager remember) on site, and one time had to be escorted off the site by security cause she started hitting him. All the locals used to come in for the gossip about her because they all hated her too, and used to call her stuff like "the dragon" and "sour face" haha. The job kinda sucked, especially becuase of this supervisor's daily abuse, but it was made slightly better by the locals coming in and wanting us to spill the latest tea on ol' lemon face. Edit: also baddie group

16:52 Not to mention the fact to, if you've gone through trauma like it seems like you have based on what you're saying, it's even harder to learn how to stick up for yourself. You seem like you're a younger adult, maybe 18-21 years old, and I feel like that's when it was the hardest for me to stick up for myself. We're taught when we were younger, that we have to submit to those who are older, even if they're wrong. Considering she's indian, it's even worse in Asian culture, so it doesn't surprise me that she was behaving that way. Especially considering how bad the racism, and colorism is within Asian culture...Sometimes I think that less obvious racism, like how she's acting like she's just joking when she's calling you a monkey, is sometimes even more horrifying.(vs violent racism) &a lot of the other things you were going through there, now lead me too believe that it was racially related. It doesn't matter what it was in their culture, she is living in the US and if she has been here long enough to have been your superior, she has to be aware of the context of calling somebody who is a African-American ,a monkey. I've seen a lot of stuff like that in Asian culture, where they think it's okay to call somebody fat, or speak about their looks, and it's not okay.... If she is living in America for a few years, speaking English , she should be aware of the context and if she's not, (which I highly doubt)she's sticking her head in the sand, and still at fault. Both of them were aware to that what she called you was inappropriate, why else would he try to lie about the actual meaning of the word? He probably thought you just didn't know what that word was, or didn't bother to look it up. So disgusting. I'm so sorry that you went through that, and honestly if this didn't happen that long ago, you should contact a lawyer. Sending much love your way.❤

yea i agree.. obviously there is so much more context to the story than what i included in the video, but you're pretty spot on. besides the first time when i asked what that word meant, i tried to stay as invisible as possible when they were name calling because i was SO SCARED that it would happen to me. i think they forgot that they told me what it meant, since i had only ever interacted with them+that word once, so they took the opportunity to lie when i confronted the situation. they were very racist in general. i replied to another comment a few days ago with a huge paragraph explaining all of it.. they asked if the coworkers were american indian or indian indian (in case u wanna look for it to see how i explained it) it happened in 2022. my sister is an attorney actually! i'm handling a lot of other things in my personal life and i do not have the capacity to be involved in a lawsuit. as i briefly mentioned, my boss was also in a huge lawsuit about her previous workplace environment. i saw every day how badly that affected her and stressed her out. i'm not up for that, especially since i'm not even angry about the whole ordeal. im more hurt and sad in a reflective way. i learned a lot of lessons about how people in the real world are, and i will take those lessons with me for my life forever. now this is just my own personal principal- i don't feel the need to get even. i don't want to sit in a courtroom trying to prove myself. if i can avoid it, i never want to have to try and convince someone of something that happened to me. its so dehumanizing and degrading. those people's lives are bad enough as it is. i don't want to contribute to that, even though they made mine stressful. all i can pray for is peace for MYSELF. i'm in such a better place than i was back then. i'm handling other sht. fck them. its over. thank you for the well wishes and i hope you enjoyed the video!! my only goal in this was to turn my traumatic experience into art. i hope u have a great dayyyyy!!!!!!!
