Did a year without sugar. No soda, no desserts, no candy, no sugar in coffee. 7/19/2021 to 7/19/2022. I was prediabetic at the start. Did OMAD and running. October 2021 all blood sugar levels went to normal. February 2022, blood sugar levels went BELOW normal. July 19, 2022, lost 39 pounds. Ran my 1st complete 5k in August 2022.

I have tried to have 10 days without sugar (except natural) and I totally agree with you it is possible and after a moment it is not as hard as everybody imagines it. My biggest discovery after only 10 days was that cakes, cookies, sweets did not taste as good as they did before. So I suppose it is the imagination also which adds the ''deliciousness'' to sugary food. Great willpower Ben. Excited to see which challenge you will take next.

I've beaten smoking, lost friends and playing pool. But started running and now even finish all full distance triathlons. I've quit drinking, missing the philosophies and inspirations that comes with alcohol, even thought most are just bullshit. Gain clarity, joy for life and purposes, and my planning works out. Next is to beat sugar.

I've been trying to give the no sugar a go. I work nights in a warehouse, physically demanding as well as doing my running. It's often tempting to drink energy drinks or cola to keep going, and snack on chocolate bars or Haribos , though I do bring coffee with me. I do notice though that more sugar leaves me feeling worse later, tired and slightly sick .

My father was a no sugar, no processed food, nothing white... So I grew up not eating a lot of sugar, but I love salt. I could eat rock salt by the hand full, I know, not good. I made a decision to stop with adding salt to food. Like you and sugar, I had that craving after about a week. Saw my husband sitting munching chips and would be hard. But after a while, got use to it, and when I did have something with salt in it, I could really taste it, your taste buds get use to the new normal, and now I have no problem. It is hard not to get anything with sugar in it in the US. It is added to everything, but I look at the ingredients and make my own stuff from scratch most the time, and always have fresh vegies and fruits. There are a lot of documentaries regarding sugar, processed food, and affects on your health, not just obesity, heart issues and diabetes, but as you mention a little, a more level clock/ rhythms, mentally there are differences.

I’ve been off all processed sugar and natural sweeteners. I still consume fruit. I started to gain weight recently and realised it was because I was drinking fruit juice. I thought because it was natural it would be fine but I was swallowing mouthfuls of fructose in quantities I would never have been able to eat had I been consuming whole fruits. I’ve cut out the fruit juice too and my weight has started to go back down to normal. I’m an all or nothing type of person and sugar is so addictive that if I have one chocolate I will want more each day. Cutting out this stuff completely has been hugely beneficial for me and not feeling the “need” to consume sugar has been mentally freeing too.

Unreal effort! Since I've been running cut loads of stuff out so dont really eat much rubbish and have a good diet. But I found it hard to cut it out totally working a 3 shift pattern on afternoons and nights you need something to keep you going at times when you only have a few hours sleep a night cause kids are always up crack of dawn, coffee is the only thing to keep me going normally 2 or 3 before 10 am lol. Really good vlog

I'm a machinest making door/window/stair components and run a line so have to do the shifts. I try to eat healthy and do 90% of the time! But the best part is knocking out slow long runs and running seems to clear the head and tiredness, its that one thing that I can forget about everything and just chill, my true happy place! 👍

Thanks - I belatedly tried this, after years of fooling myself that I could eat junk because I do lots of exercise. This took me to pre-diabetes. My sugar-free approach was to cut all processed carbs (rice, pasta, biscuits, bread). I noticed many of the same benefits that Ben reports so well in this video. I would add that some skin lesions also cleared up, as did a very long standing hip pain (what I imagine to be arthritis). This hip issue was a warm-up regular: simply had to endure a painful first 200m, for many months. It could be coincidental but the skin and hip issues have been history since I reduced processed carbs. (I still eat a lot of fruit, but won’t touch fruit juice.) My main issue now is how to deal with cake and pizza cravings…

I'm starting running up again recently, although it has taken a pause, as I focussed on doing keto 100%, it has to be an all-in diet wise, as doing 50%-70% will just not work.
