📝 Description
Errol gets in contact with Anton to see how an options trader can trade futures. Futures are similar to trading stocks, so traders can use the same methodology to trade both. Equity index futures are a good starting point for those coming from the stock or options world, and there are four primary equity index futures to choose from: the S&P 500 futures, the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures, the Nasdaq 100 futures, and the Russell 2000 futures. Each futures contract has its own notional value and multiplier, and some are better suited for beginners due to lower buying power. Micro contracts are also available for those who don't have a lot of capital or want to reduce their risk.

as an option buyer switching to future trading is a great move bc price can be choppy and I will still be in profit without worrying about theta decay

So what did he buy, a long call? I think they skimmed a lot of crucial points! Maybe they can make a series on futures that goes more in depth.

I agree with exit strategy but for beginners I would hope for more exact profit said(explained) vs market movement. If that doesn't make sense good because I'm not alone

P/L shows your profit or losses in dollar amount. Futures move in a point system increment. Every move up or down equals a point in the futures market. Each point is broken into 4 smaller moves called ticks. Depending on the instrument you’re trading(oil, corn, indices) the dollar value of the tick very. So if /ES(S&P 500) tick value equals $12.50 per and there’s 4 ticks in a point that mean one point is $50.00. So if you place a trade and you gained 5 point on it that mean you would be paid $250.00… this mean your move was $12.50 per tick, there’s 4 ticks in a point equaling out to be $50.00 and it moved 5 points that’s $50 per every move which is 5. So if you put on multiple contracts that would be $250 per each contract you placed. It also work the exact same way when you lose. So be careful. Not sure if this answered your question or not.

Just one thing. Futures DO INDEED expire and if you're holding the contract when they do you will be obligated to fullfill the contract. So, if you're holding a contract for corn or oil...it expires you're going to be legally required to take possession of those barrels of oil or bushels of corn (or deliver if you're the seller)...So make sure you're not in a contract that you don't want to "settle" when it expires.

That is not true…just roll the contract… brokerage firms are not going to allow you to take possession of the asset and get it to the new contract buyer. This was true years ago but it’s dead now. The big dealers and companies are at another level and you don’t even see their contract size.

It's risky trading futures when things get volatile, I'm sad the video didn't have more risk management or stop loss lessons. I rather stop out than hold because u never know when those hedge funds decide to dump or pump and squeeze you.

Yeah. That’s why swing trading > day trading. Why would you want to make yourself some hedge-fund’s bitch. You know what they cannot control? The macro-movement of a major stock.

Silly. To make income you need to SELL options not BUY them. When volatility is LOW you need to sell Tine Spreads ( e.g. double diagonals or double calendars) in order to take advantage of volatility expansion.

Tasty just isn't the platform for trading futures - way to long to get in and out of positions and the margin requirements are just not great. Love Tasty for my options + IRA accounts, but for futures, no thanks, especially scalping like you were doing.

Errol.. You have been a blessing on this channel man. I've been a trader for 10 years, going live with thousands of black traders and we watched then fell out of love with tastytrade because of their lack of representation. Seeing you on the network has been a breath of fresh air! The swagger, the way you ask questions, your thought process, we identify with that and we're learning alot from these videos. Keep up the great work bro!
