I Quit Traveling in a Van for a Simple Life of Farming

Only a super cool farm with a big community health goal could keep me rooted between adventures on the road. This job opportunity is helping me get some much needed time in the dirt, access to fresh food, all while taking trips around the pacific northwest. I’ll be learning about organic food farming on the Oregon Coast through this program to create food sovereignty for the tribe on this amazing property irrigated by a rainwater harvesting system and built by fire treated lumber. There are so many natural permaculture practices in place to grow produce organically and in harmony with nature. I’ll be sharing the day to day of greenhouse work, growing practices in this region, and all the traditional, ceremonial, and medicinal herbs that we’re seed starting and planting. Come along and learn about gardening, soil mixing, perennial gardens, tree planting, and so much more.

Looks like a fun time. There are so many opportunities to volunteer on the road. And it always has rewards too. Sometimes the rewards are simply camaraderie with awesome people, but more often you get to share in the bounty that results from your shared efforts.
