Good to see you are still staying positive, and settled in Cairns and the share home! There is definitely great benefits from really slowing down and looking around! I once took a break from office work and delivered papers and brochures around the neighbourhood, it was eye-opening fun! Your bad accident is turning into a positive life experience for you overall! Know your limit, hydrate, eat, rest! 🤗👍

Another great video that shows your determination in the face of adversity. This characteristic of yours is a gift and will carry you through the tough times in life. I live in Cairns too and it warms my heart that so many people offered to help you …. Shows the true Aussie way. Don’t overdo the exercise though. Keep up the posts and best wishes for your recovery.👍😀

Greg that was a great example of overcoming adversary, something older people should take note always keep your self active in Mind and health. Its great your plan A went to a Plan D for disaster but you managed to challenge your self. Hope you can get back on track soon, Cairns a wonderful place lots of pathways and bikeways that are there but are not there when the River rise. If your want a nice place to walk like a circuit Sugarworld parklands. Cheers

Better than being on Canadian crutches, non-weight bearing. 30 years later, permanent nerve compression and hassles. The story … I was at the bus station in Indooroopilly doing claims and a guy at the bus stop had been overseas doing aid surgery in places near Vietnam. He had not slept, i gave him bus fare and a couple of bucks for a pie. He showed (no permission) what nerve pinches to use when you need to amputate in extreme situations. Killed my pain, took days for the nerve bundles to relax. I pulled my head out of places after this perspective, i hope he got to see his mum. Generosity flows both ways when you open yourself.

Hi Greg! Just came across your channel randomly. 9 weeks ago I was hit by a car while I was riding my motorcycle. Snapped my ACL, MCL, PCL and tore my LCL so similar boat to you. Currently, my knee has a range of motion of about 70-170deg - I am about to have surgery this week to help straighten my knee out. As others have mentioned, forearm crutches are much easier to get around with. A lot of physiotherapists will rent them to you so maybe ask yours, otherwise check out a pharmacy, they often sell them. The only other suggestion, I have is contact an injury lawyer. At least in Victoria (where I am), if you end up with a permanent injury from a road accident, then you’re entitled to a compensation claim. Good luck with your recovery!

Jeez you’re a legend for even moving around on that. Are you having reconstruction on all 4? Did you patella make it out of that unscathed ??
@sarahvanderwaal29977 ай бұрын
Once the bruising went down on my calf and thigh I was able to weight bare and walk with a bent leg unaided from about week 4. Crutches just got in the way really. They were mostly useful to show I was injured in public so people didn’t bump me. No patella injury. I did have meniscus tears though. Surgery went well today. My leg is in this mechanical machine that continuously straightens and bends it 😅 fun times. No reconstruction planned, all the ligaments self heal except the acl, and my doctor is recommending to wait and see if my knee is unstable before suggesting reconstruction. I am an active person but I don’t play sports that require a lot of pivoting (I mostly enjoy weight lifting and running). Looking forward to following your recovery 🙂

I broke my femur around your age and lucky had pins and rods but hated the crutches, and couldn't wait for one of the set of pins around my knees to be removed as it was affecting my walking but had to wait for at least two-three months before they removed them, but swimming was great for my recovery and the first time I swam did 20 laps which took forever. I also used to walk to/from work on crutches too about 2 KMS each way too.

I can’t wait till they let me use the pool! I’m never for the screws they’ll have to use for my ACL. Did it feel different after the surgery ?
@elenawalker37467 ай бұрын
They kept pushing me to go swimming but in my head I thought I'd sink for some reason, luckily I was a regular at North Sydney Pool and the guys kept an eye out for me and the pool manager's son also broke his femur at the same time so they had a couple of cripples to look after. I had three operations over three years and every time it would mean starting over again, couldn't believe when they removed the initial pins/screws around the knee how much support it actually gave the leg, but it also freed me to walk and exercise more easily.
@gregjameson3277 ай бұрын
@@elenawalker3746 Sheesh, I can't wait to get in a pool haha. I've been pushing my physio to let me haha. I'm surprised though I though they left the pins in after surgery
