I RAGEQUIT this Celeste Map in 2022. Do I Still Hate it Now?

The first time I played "Delusional Canopy," I got one (1) room from the end, but ended up quitting the map in a rage because of frustrations with the room lengths and the infuriatingly-unintuitive reverse bubbles. But I always wondered to myself: how would I feel about it now, considering I'm a much more experienced Celeste player?
So, I decided to boot up Delusional Canopy again and document my thoughts in a series I'm calling "Salty Runback." Watch as I grind my way through potentially THE most polarizing custom mechanic of all time!

Hi! Map creator here! It means a lot that you played this and have so many thoughts about it, and it's really cool to see like, game design related commentary about my stuff on KZbin :3 A big thing that I tried to accomplish with this map was the idea of "two sections with similar mechanics that in practice play super differently" and the way I tried to accomplish this was obviously, with the reverse bubbles. The first half is generally speaking super easy to understand on the fly and effectively sightread, as a way of making the transition to the second half all that much more impactful; in that way, I guess I Wanted the reverse bubbles to stick out like a sore thumb when you first see them, if that makes sense. I get that it's a polarizing choice and visually speaking I wish they were a little more customizable (I remember SSM24 making a version of reverse bubbles that were also a different color, and they said that helped them a lot with enjoying the map) but I'm glad you were able to have a good time with the map despite the dislike for them :3 I kinda wanna map with them again having watched this tbh

As someone who played delusional cannopy as one of their first mod in their celeste modded journey and also someone who loves messing their brain up (in a fun way not in an alcohol/drugs way) it's hard to express through words how much I loved the reverse bubbles in this map (Also I goldened it like a month ago! That was very funny, I loved my reaction at the end, still need to upload it) and carrie if you're reading this! Thank you for giving this map a 2nd chance and good job clearing it!

i wish reverse bubbles weren't... Like That. them having the exact same visuals as regular bubbles is so confusing, i'd love if they were more distinct and had different animations so it feels like they "blast" madeline back. as they are they are really badly designed honestly

honestly, I think this is a really fair look at it! Most other bubbles are color-coded in such a way that players know what they distinctly do, and the reverse bubbles have are largely the same but have arrows around them, which can be kind of awkward from a design element (although like many other indicators, i suppose it helps with accessibility.) But yeah, I could see them blending into other bubbles and muddying up the waters.

this video is kinda making me want to download danopy. also im not sure about its use of reverse bubbles but i know Reverse Unreversed in Gallery Collab managed to make them fun just by going fucking ham and making the confusion the entire point of the level. which was cool
