Huge congrats Jason! Stoked you achieved both goals and overcame the intense heat and cramps. I’m proud of you for undertaking the training and persistence to finish with all your own gear!

Thanks Tim! I quite literally could not have accomplished the second goal if not for your patterns, so big thanks to you, my friend!

Howdy from western Colorado. My eight-year-old grand daughter and Ijust sewed her a dress to wear on the last day of school. We went to the fabric store, and she chose her own fabric and pattern. We used a $25.00 yard sale Singer!

Awesome! And I love western CO, I lived on the Front Range for a few years and my wife and I loved passing through the western slope enroute to Moab several times. I need to get back out there, it's been too long! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Congratulations on your race. I googled and 110F is 43 Celsius, which is hideously hot, so I'm doubly impressed, well done Jason

I really should remember that the rest of the world doesn't measure things the same as we do 😂 Thank you so much!

As the one of the 7 people in the cross-section of MYOG and runners, a hearty congratulations on your accomplishment. I’m sure you’re deservedly very proud of yourself. And it’s made all the more satisfying given the MYOG component. Well done, Jason!!

Side note: I’ve heard of a top knot but never a bottom knot! 😂 You need to improvise with a beard of that magnificence, don’t you? 😂

Funny story, I tried this race 2 years ago and shaved off my beard before the run. I'm not actually superstitious, but to play it safe I haven't shaved or significantly trimmed my beard in the two years since. There must be something to it, since I finished this time 😂

For what it’s worth, unless you’ve specifically done an unofficial repair or have obvious physical damage, then your iPhone is “waterproof”. The oldest iPhone that uses that 3 lens system is 2019’s iPhone 11 Pro, and all of the iPhones from the iPhone 7 and on have IP68 water resistance. Anyway, hope that’s useful information. You’ve convinced me to try making my own clothing for the first time! All of my sewing has been “practical” stuff like bags and covers.

That's interesting to know! Not to get too in the weeds, but waterproof or not, the touch screen is unresponsive when it is (or I am) wet, so keeping it as dry as possible is still helpful, but it's good to know I can not worry so much about it being damaged. I'm overdue for a new phone anyway, lol. Thanks for the info and for being part of the channel!

Good work dude! On the sewing and the race. Im definitely in the "if you see me running, keep up" camp. But I appreciate the content. As you say, it doesn't matter what we're in to, sewing is useful for so many things, and going over past projects and assessing whether they work as intended is key to learning and improving our skills. Nice one fella!

You did it!! Awesome! Congratulations and I wish you continued success! I've been watching your channel for a few years and you really inspire me. Maybe not to run, but to sew. Thanks to you, I sewed my first bag thanks to you and now I will probably be doing it commercially. Thank you!

Congrats! 50 miles, wow! Everything chaffs after 50 miles. Maybe just wear a speedo under the shorts. That might be a terribly suggestion. I’ve run a marathon and can’t imagine 50 miles, congrats again!

hi yes you are inspiring me to make all kinds of stuff please keep it up !!! and I can tell you'll be out there again! my wife says there's two camps .. one is I made it check it off the list the other man this sucks i'm never doing that again but maybe I can get faster I'm signing up for next year .. I'm pretty sure your the latter my friend! and for leg cramps have you heard off nuun ? my wife swears by it (she's finished 3 iron men and countless marathons (shes not fast just finishes everything) ) jels are good but ... anyway congrats again

Thanks Mike! I've used Nuun and pretty much every other commercially available product out there. I don't really have sufficient expertise to even comment on this much, but from extensive reading, cramps are just not that well understood, and the conventional wisdom of dehydration and electrolyte imbalance seems to be somewhat in question. It seems that some people are just prone to cramping, and others aren't (to the same degree, at least; obviously anyone will cramp at some point). Heat seems to be a big factor for me; a few weeks before the 50 mile run, I ran 32 miles with no cramps and minimal walk breaks, and the only real difference was it was 10-15 degrees cooler that day. Maybe one day there will be a science breakthrough that reveals chocolate frosted donuts are the remedy that prevents running cramps 😂 And hats off to your wife! My wife ran an Ironman in 2009, I briefly considered trying one but then reflected on the 9 months of nearly full-time training she did and decided I'd just stick to running lol. That's hardcore!

hello from Germany and congrats for your "sporty feat" (?! sorry for my poor english) But regarding the delicate problems between your legs i want to mention something about that. I know the problem that you got from your selfmade shortpants . In germany we have a word for that problem . If you get itchy and scratchy from walking in wrong pants ,we call that : " you walk yourself a wolf (lupus)". Thats because in europe there is so little natural environment so that wolves have to hide and the only place they have left to live is in somebodys underwear. When you are searching for how to resolve these problems with your "wolf" you may find tips like using pepperspray . But i can tell you that will make things worse ! So my tip in this case is using "bulk yarn" in your serger machine instead of "twistet" or "spun" yarn. I dont know the exact terms but i hope you know what i mean ... thanks for your inspiring videos , regards from patrick
