I have made several of these quilts. I made one for my father in law and he died a few years ago, but my mother in law sent it back to us a few months ago. I had forgotten how much I liked it. My husband keeps moving it around the house, but I like it when he leaves it for a while in t he living room and I get to look at it for a few days and it makes me happy to see it. Those kinds of quilts are terrific. I prefer making scrapy quilts than quilts that are all planned out with specific fabric.

Great block. You said it color plays a big part. I usually just do scrappy but separating into colors with similar or same for the center of the block really takes to a new level even with the bright colors. I need to separate my scraps into colors. Thanks

@@seweasybysandy Thanks for the answer. I just noticed the way you put a second strip on top / inside a first strip at a corner. I wondered whether I could do something with binding strips which are a bit too short for "normal" mitred corners.
