Ditto for me last year, same age (43) I ran London 3:52:22, I now have Berlin booked in for September aiming for a sub 3:30 🎉 (aged 44)… been casually running for 2 years… stick to training plan, eat clean, no booze and you will smash it Alberto!

Yesss! I feel all of this in my bones! I'm 2 months into a 3 month training cycle and I can't believe the difference in how I feel after two months. Last weekend I ran 22 miles with 4x3 miles at my goal race pace (7:50) and I can't believe my body was actually able to do that. It's amazing what consistent training - tempo, speedwork, long runs, and good recovery can yield in such a relatively short amount of time. Keep it up!

I zoomed out on my own marathon planning spreadsheet (I am in week 6 of 12) and saw what I'd already accomplished, was a great motivator heading into the 2nd half. And just my overall progression, it's been a year since I started doing this: 1st Feb 2022 - 3 miles on treadmill, 8:54 mins per mile average, 168bpm HR average aged 29 31st Jan 2023 - 7.1 miles on a cold morning outside with hills, 8:59 mins per mile average, 132bpm HR average aged 30 Being able to even just get outside and run is such a gift, never to be taken for granted, let alone doing the crazy plan you are on!

That intro was fantastic. I LOLd at the waking up your wife part. And if stopping for a bathroom break means your run doesn't count, NONE of my runs count! 😆 As a trail runner, I'm always scoping out the forest for the perfect pit stop.

Hey Eric! Love your channel and your content. I am an Olympic cross country skier and watching your video I couldn’t help but pass on some info. Threshold should target 2.5-3 millimoles of lactic. This is usually around a 50k+ k pace skiing. All this to say, to me it looks like you were a little above that. It’s very counter intuitive and takes extreme self control but you get a lot more out of the session when you keep your threshold well in threshold! Hopefully that want to prechy, just wanted to pass of some of my learning from my own failures. 😂

37 and I’ve ran for about the last 150 days straight, I’ve had less than 10 off days in these last 6 months. 5 miles a day everyday. Don’t regret not one day. Hardest shit I’ve ever done. Everyday is hard. Never gets easier. I love it. Up for the challenge, everyday.

I'm right with you on my current Boston training block timing. One cold day on Friday and then like two weeks of mild temps. Super pumped for the good weather break. Running in the dark and cold like that (and the motivation it takes to get out the door) is something very few people understand.

Love your videos. Question-You ever deal with runners knee? I’m training for a 1/2 in march then a full in May. Knee seems to bother me after a long run
@GTE_Channel
@GTE_Channel Жыл бұрын
Its generally an issue with you hips. Search IT band syndrome. A lot of info out there.
@flobergruns
@flobergruns Жыл бұрын
Totally agree with this. I had knee pain in the early years of my training, and it was IT band issues. New shoes and foam rolling solved the problem!
@matthewtirrell4568
@matthewtirrell4568 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I was able to run through it today. Hoping I can incorporate some foam rolling, stretching, and theragun into the routine and power through
@matthewtirrell4568
@matthewtirrell4568 Жыл бұрын
After doing some self diagnosing, pretty sure it’s runners knee, not IT band. I’ve been able to run through the discomfort while I started to incorporate some quad and hip stretching. I noticed quickly that my right hip (same side as sore knee) was super tight and sore from the stretching. I’m hopeful that as I continue to strengthen my quads and hips I should be able to keep running!

I have the same goal 2h 50 . This evening I did 6x800 m at 3.20 with 1 min rest between sets. Do you think it is enough or should I speed up? you dont have strides speed in your table
@flobergruns
@flobergruns Жыл бұрын
I do have strides on a few days (typically on a slower day), but the LT and VO2 max workouts is where I'll do tempo runs and mile/1K/800m meter repeats. 3:20/k pace for you 800m seems to be right in the ballpark. You have to run to effort though. If you feel like you're leaving too much gas in the tank & not toeing the line w/ flooding your legs with Lactic, you can go faster, but that's plenty quick.

Hi y'all! So I've been trying to get into running but at the 25 minute mark my foot always begins to fall asleep. I know my body can go for longer but I can never shake the tingling sensation from my left foot. I've tried loosening my laces, trying different shoes, etc. Has this happened to anyone? Or does anyone know how to stop this?
