I believe the reason why the power on sylva was the same amount as desolo is because sylva has medium sun power while desolo has high sun power

Love your channel a lot. I still love how Astroneer is a game where you can really just go around the entire planet and rotate back around without issue. I'm quite new to the game so I've always turned to your videos if I wasn't clear on something. I feel like looking at this with how many small solar panels you placed for the amount of power generated even when it wasn't entirely loading correctly, is way more cheap than those XL solar panels could ever produce... hm, I guess I need to check that out once I'm back to the game. Anywho! Can't wait to see more content.

Would a moving train across the whole planet following the sun with a lot of solar panel be usefull ?
@worldclassjerk-epicgamerАй бұрын
Technically speaking, if you want the best bang for your buck, there is a glitch with solar you can do at the north pole that causes them to detect sunlight all the time, so that's probably best. As far as glitchless techniques, though, I considered having a train chase the daylight cycle, but I figured the train's speed wouldn't match the sun's speed without doing something crazy to try and get them to sync up, so I didn't even test it.

@rensocruz1866Ай бұрын
This process is unnecessary. Just place a ton of single solar panels on silos and stage them in a high point upside down on either the North or South poles. The poles will always have sunlight that never goes away so it's constant power. Just have to make sure you place them above the gateway high enough so the suns always being captured.
@worldclassjerk-epicgamerАй бұрын
I'm aware of this bug (I made a whole video on it). I just thought it would be neat to do this. Also, some people tell me they don't like using bugs, so this was for those people as well, I guess.
@rensocruz1866Ай бұрын
@@worldclassjerk-epicgamer bugs? What bugs? If you're referring to the North/South poles having constant sunlight, then that's no bug. That's by design or maybe an oversight. Same happens to our very earth to some degree. Since this is a video game, planets/moons are built on a perfect axis. Which allows the gamer to exploit the fact that the sun never sets on the poles (exceptions being clouds or mountains/horizon temporarily blocking) . Again, as long as you build the power source high enough so sun doesn't creep under the horizon. Either way, I love your videos and my favorite parts are your exits to your videos. They simply end abruptly, which is great.
@worldclassjerk-epicgamerАй бұрын
@@rensocruz1866 I guess bug isn't the right word. More like exploit. I definitely don't think the player's ability to have all solar on all the time is by design, so it would definitely qualify as an exploit.
@thorodinson1380Ай бұрын
@@rensocruz1866 yeah but irl we can build solar panels 8,000 feet into the air suspended off of terrain we built out of soil lol its not a bug in the sense that it isnt meant to be in the game, but it is a bug in the sense that it isnt the way the devs intended that mechanic to work. solar is meant to stay powered when the sun is up, and the only source of constant power should come from qtrtgs and rtgs, every other form of constant power is due to heavy automation late-game or bugs

Is there a way to load them all in?
@worldclassjerk-epicgamerАй бұрын
I do not know. I saw another comment saying that after a certain amount of distance, they weren't able to get much more than 300 U/S, either, so I think power is just glitchy at a distance. I will say, though, that the distance of the day/night cycle is much shorter near the north and south poles, so you could just do a smaller circle of solars there that are much closer together and have your base near that.
@jokerx2569Ай бұрын
I don't think it's about loading them in. I think it's distance. Desolo and Sylva are equal distance from the sun itself. Let me theorize with you lol. I played a game on a dedicated server and I set up a whole array of solar panels on top of the North Gateway and I got the same number as you did on this video. I then went to Glacio and did the same thing. Lower number. A friend said that it is more than likely the distance between the sun and the planets. I then took the save file from the server and continued to use it as a personal save and even with me adding and repositioning panels - still the same numbers. I've joined other servers and multiplayer saves where again the same setup at North Gateways and even with trains and other players setting up bases throughout the planet - you still get the same number. Even with me producing 1000U/s through other means - connecting another base at a distance via train rails will still produce 250 - 300 range of U/s. If you would like to further theorize I am on your Discord - JOKERxNYC

I haven't played in awhile, but I remember Sylva has an atmosphere and I Desolo doesn't. Is it the atmosphere thats causing reduced power?
@jokerx2569Ай бұрын
@@Gracefulwarrior2124 So far a theory is the distance of the sun from the planet and/or moon among other things i.e. mountains, hills, forests & obstructions; affects the amount of power being produced. Also distance rendering could also be a factor. Again all theory until tested and proven, so far I have seen similar numbers as in the video but I've also seen less numbers due to the planet being furthest from the sun aka Glacio
