I cant say enough about the garmin Varia...it changed my life. I do not exaggerate. its made ridding so much more relaxing. I can actually take the road on remote country road and enjoy the views and chill... I dont have to ride on the side In case I didnt rubber neck enough or hear the speeding angry f250 super duty flying at me . on fast downhills when wind noise makes it impossible to hear cars at all io can rest easy knowing I can take that extra 2-3 ' of road to take the turn with better angle and not worry im steeping out Ito a car trying to pass me. it will give you false positives ( will beep but no car back there) sometimes, rare but it does, but it will NEVER give you a false negative ( a car passes you and it didnt alert you) no car has ever passed me that I didnt get alert for. its solid and you can count on it. ive given two as b day presents to fiends .

Agree that saddle should be a number 1 upgrade. Stock saddles are a gamble for most people and you simply won't be able to put out power or put in the training hours if you're suffering in the saddle. I made the mistake of buying a saddle online based partly on looks and it's now at the top of my upgrade list. Will definitely be trying out several at my local bike shop before shelling out for the next one.

So when I got another bike, I got a similar seat, the Fizik Antares R3 Versus EVO. Was cheaper than the r1 almost exactly the same except alu rails and not carbon and a slight difference in shape. So when I got a third bike, I got a third versus evo. So. seats matter. My other major upgrade to my bmc roadmachine was 58mm wheels. with chris king hubs. damn. that is some awesome wheels. The original owner of the bike only rode it 400km, but he had upgraded it to di2, so those are the three non-factory things I love with my roadmachine. ;)

Hey Mitch, thanks for the video, I have three same bike and planning on upgrading the wheel, tyres and saddle. - Wheel, which one did you for standard or ceramic? 12mm or 15mm? - Saddle, which length did you go for and why, 139mm or 149mm? - Tyres, which one do you recommend to go with three scribble wheels? Thanks Mitch.
@MitchBoyer Жыл бұрын
I have the 139mm saddle because my sit bones are pretty narrow--definitely recommend getting measured or trying a few saddles out before purchasing one. My Scribe wheels have the race bearings--at the time I bought them, Scribe did not offer ceramic bearings For the axel size--you'll have to check your bike's specs. Our axels might be a different size. Tires: I've tried the Michelin Power Cup, The Schwalbe Pro One and the Vitoria Cora N.Ext. The Michelin's were the fastest, the Schwalbe's have the best grip imo, and the Vitoria's last the longest. If longevity is your goal, get the Vitorias, if speed is all you care about, the Michelins, if you want soemthign in the middle, but still very good: the Schwalbes. Hope that helps!
