@@ulkimion I think you can do both--for example rating the cultist as a composite of how dangerous it is as a solo encounter, in the chosen fight, the 3 cultist fight, and its Awakened appearance. Enemies tend to themselves counter certain playstyles so I don't think the ranking will be too different. (The cultist in all of its appearances tends to be countered by burst damage for example)

I think Snecko can be a good time in Archipelago, because then you get to adjust to whichever terrible package you get and not mixin build around cards from packages you can't afford

That's Hexaghost for me. With Snecko, I got the hang of it after 2 runs, while after 5 runs I still haven't reached act 3 on Hexaghost. Dunno why, but the character does not seem to click with me.

The champ is a lot of people’s favorite because it feels very much like the watcher with all the stance changes. However I’m not a fan of stance changing characters all that much so I kinda agree with your placement.

That’s funny, I’m not a big watcher guy but I was a massive champ fan (and downfall fan in general) when I played him. I dunno exactly what it is, but him being one of my favorite bosses might have something to do with it. (Snecko can languish in F tier though)

I enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh very casually, but the Yu-Gi-Oh mod is still my favorite. You absolutely do not need to 'know YGO' to understand it, as the only mechanic it even really had from YGO is summoning and tributing, which is abundantly easy to understand. Can it get crazy and out of hand? Sure. But when you actually just slow down and read, a lot of the decks have very clear builds and synergies to them, with each type of monster having their own decks they can go into. It's complicated, but absolutely learnable with time. I'd say the biggest 'problem' with it is that it isn't a mod that's a '1-2 and done' like most others can realistically be. There's so much to do in it that it really does work best the more and more knowledge you accumulate of the mod itself. It's just a shame to see so many people just dunk on it when it's clearly made with so much effort and has so much to offer as you keep playing and unlocking decks. I don't think it's for everyone because it does require that time investment to learn, but it absolutely deserves some recognition for the ambitious passion project that it is. Perhaps the only thing I could say that would improve it is perhaps the option to separate the decks into their own separate mods so that they're more consumable at a beginner level.

My friend who plays Yu-Gi-Oh got the duelist mod and me, him, and another friend played A20 with hard modifiers in together in spire. He made the duelist look INSANELY broken. Like, me and my buddy were just watching him deal 300+dmg in a single turn on act 1. I guess if you understand Yu-Gi-Oh, you'll destroy EVERYTHING, but if you don't, you'll destroy your brain trying to understand.

I once was playing packmaster and had an insane run, but picked up infinite power (modded relic, +1 energy but you have to play powers first) and something that gave me random powers every turn (from any class, even modded) Now, that build was pretty good, but the reason I died was i got a power from the duelist mod and couldn't play it bc i didn't have any monsters or some stupid shit like that. And that skipped my whole turn. And the turn after. Yeaa don't download the duelist mod even if you don't plan on playing it

I feel the measure of a good mod is how well you could prismatic shard. Would their cards help the other or can they synergise past calm and divinity

@@opatzo9165I think his intent is to use prismatic shard as a worst-case scenario: do the cards from the modded character have synergies with cards of the existing characters? If they do, that means the mod creator went above and beyond to make sure their mod fits in with Slay the Spire’s unique game balance, something EXTREMELY difficult to do if you’re not a designer for the base game already. It also means the mod doesn’t turn the game into something that feels different from the base game, a subjective judgment really hard to nail in terms of aesthetics and visual design. So I see where they are coming from with their idea, but yeah it’s a bonkers way to balance everything 🤣 Just because prismatic shard is a functional relic for a particular modded character does not make it good on its own!

Take a look at the main game, I wouldn’t say they had any synergy with each other. The reason why prismatic was never a good relic(in terms of power) in the first place is the fact that most cards don’t synergies with each other. Cards that do synergies are simply because they are just powerful on their own. Any cards that are relevant to the characters gimmick are usually instantly ignored in a prismatic run(poison, orbs-we don’t count watcher cards because watcher always has lethal)

Playing The Automaton is a mess, but it is a *glorious* mess. What cards will you produce? Not a damn clue, but they'll be powerful. Is your deck full of 30+ statuses? Yes, and that's by design, and they make me stronger. It's definitely one of my top modded classes of all time.

I know you said you didn't want to, but I want to echo the sentiment that JoJo gets better after Part 1. I didn't enjoy Part 1 that much, but it's only 9 episodes; after that is Part 2, which has way better pacing and a much more interesting protagonist. Plus from Part 3 onwards it introduces Stands, which is one of the most creative and interesting power systems in just about any fighting-oriented series I've ever seen

Having grinded hungry wolf to a16, you can take prismatic on a boss swap or in act 1 easily. Wolf struggles with front loaded damage in act 1 and there's so much exhaust for late game. You cannot take sneko currently.

For the duelist, you don't need to know shit about yugioh because other than the card art, names, tributing and a few buzzwords it isn't yugioh at all. I've played so much of it and one thing that's abundantly clear is that it's not supposed to actually emulate yugioh at all and well it can be kinda fun once you figure out what the 10 new terms for your new deck is figuring it all out is a horrid shitshow.
