Dead branch is only bad if you are exhausting down to an infinite, which is rare enough that I don’t remember the last time I skipped dead branch, juzu bracelet and shopkeepers mask are negatives more often than dead branch.

Replay the Spire is just a very quality mod, especially if you just want a vanilla plus experience. I'm a bit played out with it for the moment and usually spice STS up with other mods but the fact remains it is one of the OGs for sure.

Really enjoying the modded content. If you are looking for pure content mods (non character), I have some great recommendations on top of replay the spire. These mods don’t change any major mechanics of the base game rather they add a bunch or relics, potions, cards, event, enemies, bosses, etc. The mods below are really great, and the authors would probably be delighted if were to highlight their work. I play with all of these at once (it’s stable!) and its makes slaying the spire so much more enjoyable. Counterbalance is busted as hell with dark shackles. They lose 9 health for the turn but only gain half of it back. Just permanently loses them strength.
