Simply’s with his parents was definitely the best in my opinion. It actually made you as the viewer feel emotional watching it, which I don’t get from any of the other runs. It might not be a “pop off” but it definitely hits you right in the heart every time you watch it.

I wont lie, I'm a goober and skipped the intro and it took me longer than I'd like to admit that Simply was reacting with him and it wasnt a reaction of a reaction lol. And not to be biased, but I think both of your pop offs were the best because they involve your family completely embracing your 'degenerate' hobby. (I dont think it's that, just most parents would think that way.) And they both are just such wholesome popoffs.

I definitely think Suigi’s 14:35 is the most iconic popoff but Weegee’s 1:37:35 will always be my favorite. The way he’s on the verge of screaming but trying so hard to contain himself is just so perfect and he’s just in complete shock. Prob my favorite run of all time too.

Weegee's 1;37;35 is also my favorite.. The fact he is so deadpan usually even when joking around, and being known as one of the most technical and high executing players, yet not having 120wr for so long, and almost quitting out in hmc, just too many things made that run and the popoff way too good imo it's the best/most (para)socially justified popoff in all of nintendo games so far

1:13:45 Oh shit, this one's hard! Two Legendary Runs! That Kanno record is after 3,000 hrs straight of streaming until he got the wr... I wanna say Kanno because I know I have a bias, and objectively, 3,000 is ALOT of streaming to get a wr, probably the most anyone's steamed, at once, to get a sm64 wr. Idk which is the objectively more impressive time tho, do any of you reading know? Edit: I watch anime, so I also have a bias towards Japanese people 👀 Shit. After rewatching the Kanno one tho, I like it better... but fuck, now that I'm thinking about it, I like it because of how much he suffered to get there, which feels like it's promoting hurting yourself, to get views. My Top 3 is probably Simply 1:38:28; Batora 1:38:21 and then a two way tie between Liams 1:37:53 and Weeges 1:37:35. I have only been around since shortly before the first 1:37, so therefore huge bias towards the newer runs, and Simplies WR run is what got me into watching the game at all.

I don't think Puncay's 1:39:05 was the actual world record at the time, just the best verified 120 star run. I swear at the time you had an unverifiable 1:38:51 because of SSL or something. I was in and around your chats here and there. There was only 6 months between your 1:39:15 and your 1:38:54 as well, and puncay's run was verified in december of 2019.

@@snared_ missing footage. Iirc his stream died and he wasn't local recording, so his run was accepted as unverified because of his reputation, and he unsubmitted it when he got the 1:38:54 because that run had full verifiable gameplay

Objectively i've knew which ones would be on the finals. But also in my heart, i already knew who won. It was fate, it was effort, it was love. We have one if not, the greatest timeline of gaming thanks to the super mario 64 community, and Simply will go to the annals of history, not only for being himself in general, but the experience for a game community to experience such an incredible feat, and being recognized and celebrated like that by their parents. I feel like the concept of our parents being proud of us for something we like cannot be better expressed than that, i think thats the most amazing feat in gaming history. i've cried re-watching it, i've cried writting this, thinking how happy i am to exist in the same universe of this event.
