So you started farming that battlecruiser at 25:45 and he died at 32:00. That's over 6 minutes of focus fire and you would have needed a lot longer to kill him if he didn't get smashed by someone else. The Delny's damage output seems pretty anemic to me

That "unlucky game" thing you said at start, that's how the game is for me all the time since I have started in 2015. 200-300 hits, 2-3 fires, while I am getting lit shot after shot. Glad you experienced what we all do :)

Glad to see someone highlighting the positives of the Delny. Too often, any conversation of this ship is overwhelmed with screams of "But the Khaba as better guns". It's a strong ship in it's own right and fun to play.

Funny thing about that Delny; in this week's brawl I had my greatest success with it despite what it looks like on paper. I was doing really well with the Sherman, even getting 8 wins in a row, then out of curiosity switched to Delny and was getting more kills and surviving way more. This was with heals rather than smoke.

@@throdwobblermangrove6200 10 months late I know, so you probably have your answer already, but to anyone else wondering, *no.* The russian DDs are really victims of powercreep right now, it's not that they are unplayable, but anything you want to do in a DD you have better options. If you want to play a gunboat, go with the Kleber line, if you want a hybrid DD, pick either Daring or the extremely busted Gdansk(smoke+radar is cracked), If you want a torp DD, Halland is probably your best bet(but torp focused DDs kinda suck now, especially since Sub-humans do their job better.) Also honorable mention for the Elbing, its a dogshit destroyer, but a really fun light cruiser without a citadel, and vicious AP. Have fun grinding the line to get it though, it is pure pain until you get to the Schultz at tier 9, and even then it's not amazing by any stretch.

I liked Tashkent and I like Delny. It isn't the most amazing DD, but I enjoy its playstyle. It certainly can use a bit of a dps boost but it is a ship I enjoy.

Why did you turn in towards the island at 27:30 instead of more towards the border and to the Right (of the screen)? I would think he’d continue to have to either bow tank you and open up his broadside to others (at the cost of him possibly eating some torps), or give you his broadside instead?

What's the point of delny if grozo gets same ammount of guns and shell velocity, better relod, better detectability, better torps, better AA, smoke+RP together, similar range and speed? Am i missing something or what?

Delny is the most survivable DD at tier 10 and that's it.

@@fikumik probably yeah. Although most people will still fire HE at destroyers and AP will still bounce at shallow angles. Full pens vs over pens are also a function of arming _time_ too, not just mm of plating. Physically thinner ships have more chance of being overpenned but the calculations be come much more complicated than for HE, which is just pen vs shatter.

I got my Khaba when it was tech line. I do decent enough in a Khaba, but i just cannot get any milegae from my Delny. The guns just leave me wanting more ship, despite usable torps and great (for Russian line) concealment. Something about the Delny just leaves me feeling like i was robbed. Also, i just love the gameplay of a Khaba bullying a flank in plain wide open view, daring everyone to shoot at her. For whatever reason, i just fail in a Delny.

i dont understand, how does speed boost help you accelerate out of a fight when it only increases maximum speed, meaning that you will only see its effects once you've reached your maximum speed, and it doesn't even affect your acceleration

Thanks for this. I'd like to encourage you and others like you to go back though the lines and redo your reviews / tutorial for these older ships. I have a hard time finding any "current" information for builds and the games featured often do not include CVs, Subs, and Superships. So, as tutorials go they are often not helpful and I often don't bother to watch them. If you do make "new" tutorials / reviews I'd encourage you to include CVs, Subs and Superships since I rarely find myself in a match today which does not feature multiple ships from these classes.

Which team UI are you using and whats it called? I actually like it. Also When delny first came into the game, I actually liked it. yeah its missing 1 turret and has more benefits than the khaba, but If you played the khaba long enough (its my most played DD at this point for tier X), then you should be able to adapt and adjust accordingly in terms of the rudder shift on it. I play it as a cruiser as your concealment is pretty much at cruiser level since the legendary module takes up slot 5 instead of 6. I have a tendency of open water gun boat the hell out of things. The funny thing about this is...Khaba and Zao are the two ships Ive done 250K plus games and are considered superly power crept. I guess playing odd ball ships or power crept ships are fun for me.

The ships are not bad and the player skill is much more influencial than the actual ship itself. People forget that. The best example is with DDs: Give me a solid T5 DD in a T10 MM and I will outplay every other T10 DD driven by a potato (not if it's real potato quality there though ...). Not because I can outgan a Sherman, but because I know my top priorities are spotting, screening, smoking and capping. Of course you can't do the same comparison with T5 CA/CLs vs. T10 CA/CLs because there ship perfomanes matters significantly more, but Zao is a good ship. And if you smash enemy DDs early on with HE and your T5 DD lives, you can easily win games with that. ;)

Delny is a good boat, but incredibly underwhelming when compared to a leg mod Khaba. Yea it has more range, but the lack of dpm when in a straight up fight just isn't enough for me to pick a Delny over a Khaba. Though the Khaba torps make me sad. Delny just feels like you have to farm for an entire game to get any meaningful damage vs Khaba that can really pump some damage out pretty quickly. It really shows itself in a DD 1v1.

Random question. I have been playing for 6+ years and just recently noticed that some clan tags show up purple in the match-up screen. What is that about? Does it mean they are winners of clan battles? Never been in clan battles if that is the case, just left a clan because they weren't very active. Just curious if someone could let me know!

Well, I was comparing Delny, Khaby and Grozovoi just by stats, consumables and armor. I played mostly T9 Udaloi only and Khaby, but I expect Grozovoi to be upgrade of it and T9 one proved to be funny DD with nice set of consumables. If I won't comment WG decision to move good researchable ship to armory for coal, which can be obtained now with doublons too(prem BP), Grozovoi except that armor and HP difference vs Delny seems better option. Grozovoi has 1,7km base lower spot, ability to mount 12km torp and both heal and smoke with 7,4km base concealment looks like more adaptability. >>What makes me blame WG for making Delny to be rush fast substitute of Khaby? Just look in port on the ships armor scheme, devs didnt check that scrap metal junk has no barbettes made.- It is probably the reason, why you have lost one without ever noticing it. It maybe just slip off deck at heavy seas.

That dpm seems rough and not that fun to play. Kleber and Sherman are far more interesting farmers at long range. Maybe even more consistent. I would even prefer Vampire 2 with the engine boost for a similar role with more carry potential.

I played Delny last night Its still decent 2nd backup dd but obviously horrible at being the spotting DD. Its a upgraded Tashkent, its a good boat and fits the meta. Your turret breaking in the first game, Ive never had that, just my torp tubes broken perm.

I couple of month ago I felt the urge to grind the russian DD line and found them pretty strong at lower / middle tiers. My win rate sky rocketed with them since I dominated my map area incomparable to any other ship. I opened up at the slightest mast on the horizon and all BBs turned away almost instantly. I went for the Grozovoi instead of the Khaba/Delny thing but regret it a bit. Grozovoi can be played to some degree to Khaba/Delny I think but it lacks the healing / speed and I die way too often thinking I can speed dodge appropriate. Maybe I should get the Taschkent/Delny as well.

The trick is that you have to be shooting, always. That's the only way I've made it work and have good damage games. It isn't a dd hunter or brawler, its a continuation and update to repair khaba gameplay. I sit at 12-15km and just make battleships hate themselves :)

If you got 9% of 304 hits you would have lit 27 fires instead of 4. OFC there is natural fire prevention of high tier BB + the skill but at most that should reduce your change to 4.5% or 13 instead of 4. Really got screwed on RNG it seems.

I still remember doing the mission for fire starting with my azuma; whole battle farming bbs, focusing targets that had just used DCP; 80+ 310mm HE shells on target with all flags and perk for fire chance and... 2 fires in total...

I like Delney, I just don't do very good in it consistently. Very hard for me to get in favorable situations in order to own the enemy, mostly due to being in matches against lower detect DD's.

Delney is a solid ship. The high velocity shells, acceleration and firing range make it powerful. I just personally prefer Khaba. After Khaba was nerfed into the ground and seeing all the french dds do what Khaba did only better, Delney is just distasteful to me.

Been playing that ship the moment it released, This ship shines when spotted, and thats where I focus its entire playstyle, by using prop mod to bait shots and speed juke you pretty much have given your entire team an advantage as the enemy has exposed themselves by trying to hit me. Great little boat but not for the typical DD player or the inexperienced as you pretty much break so many conventional rules behind the class to make the thing work Edit. Spelling.

Honestly, I don't like Delny, I just don't see the point of this ship. If I want pure gun power I can just play UU Khaba and if I want something that doesn't handle like a brick I can just pick Grozo (that has higher DPM than Delny, better torps than Delny, better conceal, and both smoke and heal on separate slots and DFAA as a cherry on top)

They remove kahaba because the supership get 8 guns as Khabarovsk so t10. Should be worse! I personally love my legendary khaba still have access to more He and AP damage than the supership and i have won at least 3 times 1 vs 1 against Danley! I dond find good pick the supership just for the cost to get and runing! Khaba + legendary mode is the best for me

Delny is poor. One of the worst fire chances, poor DPS. Khaba with leg mod is just so much better. The rudder is a pain but that's just the cost of the khaba guns. 6km torps are fine for yoloing, very heavy damage and basically no reaction time for them. Plus it's khaba hull which is same as the t11. Way more 50mm to protect you in khaba than delny
