Honestly, Freddy being the way he is in MK9 just shows how far NRS have come with their guest characters From a character like Freddy with infinite potential for creativity and a fitting moveset in MK9, and none of that potential being used, to now Ghostface being a character most people wouldn't expect to have any creativity beyond just a guy with a knife being filled to the brim with creative decisions from NRS, it's really awesome!

The thing that bothered me the most with Freddy in MK9 was that his appearance is more based on the hated 2010 remake rather than his classic design that most people know him for. Then there's also the fact that he's wearing two of his iconic metal-claw glove for no inexplicable reason. It really felt like he was designed by someone who isn't familiar with the movies.

Freddy and Jason should have appeared in reverse order. Jason is completely taciturn, so him being mute wouldn't take away from the character in MK9 while Freddy is excessively chatty and would have been good for amusing pre-fight banter.

I feel like it's the picks themselves that are the problem. Robocop was the first to get much hate pre-release, and Omni-Man and Honelander both followed. Omni-Man was recieved pretty warmly once he came out as it became clear his inclusion and Homelander's wouldn't be redundant, but the other two haven't had that luck. Not to mention Conan and the T-1000 are kinda out there in terms of cultural relevance.

Predator on MKX was so awesome that it went even beyond the character itself, as in the classic "You Son of a Bitch" vs screen that "Commando" Johnny Cage and "Carl Weathers" Jax got with his release.

The thing that always got me about the MKX roster of guests is that they were all essentially silent killers, so while they were great from the gameplay side, the intro dialogues which were such a vibrant part of the game with the core roster all ended up rather bland. Like you said, imagine Freddy with that setup, would have fit him so much better than what he had in MK9.

I know this dude didn’t just disrespect Rambo. He fit right in with the Special Forces characters, and I’ve managed some great mixups with him thanks to his snare traps. And the fact that several of his character intros were nods not only to the character of John Rambo, but also the movies of Stallone? That, along with the fact that Stallone was game for voicing him, was the icing on the cake.

I think my biggest issue with most MK11 guests overall, with the exception of Spawn, is that they all serve functions that very easily could’ve been given to pre-existing characters. Terminator and Robocop specifically feel very much like they’re just generic archetypes that got slapped onto guests they didn’t know what to do with, at least in my opinion. The mark of a good guest character for me is a fighting style that feels wholly unique to THAT character; something I think they nailed in MKX and, at least from what we’ve seen so far, Ghostface appears to be another great example of that

Well, the Joker was added in at the last minute because Ash from The Evil Dead franchise was going to be in it. He was only dropped due to licensing problems. Thats why the move set is different. It was designed around Ash in mind.

To play though he is boring af. His simple combos were like just hold forward and mash one button. So simple to use and so much broken stuff. His one variation he does more damage the less health he has so if you dont KO him in a mega combo, meaning you had to cash out on it, he could end up getting even bigger damage and a come back for barely any resources.

When it komes to best Guest in Mortal Kombat. I absolutely Love PREDATOR, ALIEN, LEATHERFACE and KRATOS. KRATOS is still so much fun to revisit and I had a TON of fun revisiting LeatherFace during Halloween. While it's still too early to judge, Ghost Face actually looks awesome in MK1.
