Elokhar's single? Better tell his wife! You know the one Jasnah hired the assassin to spy on? She'll be so disappointed to find out her husband is going to end up with Shallan, that homewrecker!

Won't say where it was, but there was one point where you predicted the most iconic scene of the book.

this series is such a good way to remind myself what happen in previous books, for the upcoming wind and truth.

Just fyi, the shards dont have to be in opposing pairs, that's just how it was in Mistborn!

So much closer to plot points and answers at some points than you know, but certainly not through the line of thinking that took you there.

I was just as confused and loved every minute of it
@Degrad214 күн бұрын
it is still normal to be confused, but here are some things you missed: 1. Elhokar is NOT single. As some other poeple wrote, his wife (Aesudan) is in the Capital city and managing normal government stuff, while the highprinces fight on the plains. 2. your confusion about the spren: they are the product of human emotions and human thoughts. So they are cognitive beeings. they live in the cognitive realm, you saw that in secret history with kelsier. 3. the thing about shallan needs to confess lies and kal has to do honorable stuff is really good. Also we kinda never saw szeths spren so far, so keep that in mind. 4. honestly do not try to understand the surges. 10 radiant orders, each uses 2 of them. All you need to know at this point. The surges are more like concepts (gravitation, transformation) and so on. for example transformation is used for soulcasting and gravitation is what szeth used in the prologue. Try to focus on understanding the radiant orders, the spren bonds, and what they can do, the surges are more like background magic theory. hope that helps, enjoy reading!

When I was here in my read-through, I thought that Jasnah had actually died but then became a Cognitive Shadow like a certain character in Mistborn. I'm not going to spoil what actually happened, but I like that we both thought this couldn't be the end of her.
@swinkscalibur85064 күн бұрын
Gravitation - surge that allows lashings, Transformation - surge that allows soul casting, Adhesion - surge that allows full lashing (sticking objects together), Illumination - surge that allows illusions to be created. Then there are six more that haven't been discussed much to this point.

There can totally be an odd number of Shards on a planet. For example, the planet Nalthis has only one Shard, Endowment. They are also not always opposites.

As always, you’re definitely pulling on some of the right strings. You pick up on far more than I did my first time reading these books. All I’ll say is that you’re going to enjoy the ride this book takes you on

Elhokar's wife is mentioned in the prologue. Not single.

Shallan... is a very interesting character, unlike almost any character I've seen in fantasy.. And.. I'm not sure we really have seen her full "real" personality yet after 4 books, despite the hundreds of pages of attention we've gotten. In other words.. don't think you know her, there's a lot of layers in that onion.

Haha - yes, I’m with you on the relationship nonsense in this genre, it generally sux and is just annoying. I’d keep my powder dry on this one though.. oh you’ve made a couple of excellent predictions sir, never fear!! Yep, I was confused, and immersed and happy as a pig in shit - ur good man :)

14:23 Funnily enough the fifth book coming out in December is supposedly going to cover just ten days. That’s at least been a rumor since the end of the fourth book, I haven’t read any of the preview chapters so no idea if it’s true.

Confusion is part of the series for sure, but as long as you still want to read dont worry about it, things will be answered pretty clearly in time. Sanderson is great for wrapping up what he teases

@@nililavi I'm only aware of it being used in English in the form of Odious.
@shughes57784 күн бұрын
It's a direct loan word from Latin, so it’s the same as the Latin word. Odious is indeed the more common version, but Odium is indeed a real English word.

Until this last re-read I also thought Shallan got her shardlade from her mother or father. This last re-read I completed, I finally caught the foreshadowing for where it really comes from. Can't wait for the reveal for you, because it's a wild ride for those of us who don't see it coming!

It’s fine to be confused! As long as you’re enjoying it! You will get answers to everything at some point. You’ve seen a “realm of the mind” reference before. In Mistborn Secret History. Khriss explains a bit. (I may not be helping your confusion here.) Also, you just learned about Elhokar’s wife in the prologue! Aesudan stayed behind in Kholinar. Yes, there’s a lot of information and a lot of things happening. I’m excited for you to continue this book!
