I loooved Big Swiss too. If you ever do a “if you liked that book, try this book” video I would love to find more books like that with strong characters and a hearty dose of bizarre “life is stranger than fiction” shenanigans

Sia Martinez was a debut novel and very much feels that way lol the tonal shift hit me hard too. I think you'd have a better time with Raquel's second novel: How Moon Fuentez Fell In Love with the Universe. I read it first and liked it so much I read Sia Martinez.

I read 16 books in March. My favorites were Listen for the Lie by Tintera, Blank by Owen, Help Wanted by Waldman, The Teacher by McFadden & Women Behind The Wheel by Nichols (this one is a nonfiction). I'm not a horror reader, but you sold me on Fantasic Land so I'll try it. Thanks!

I only read 9 books in march n my favorite read that read was an arc that i got called take my hand this book was so emotional n so well written its a Rockstar romance n its so good i also read murder road which i loved the first half of it but once the big reveal happened i felt like that was it 😂 but other then that i enjoyed it

I'm sorry you picked up Midnight on Beacon Street 😂 I got an ARC copy so I tried to be nice in my early review-but agree this book is completely mis-marketed (a shame because the cover is SO good!) The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins could be a nice pick for you and your mom, it's definitely one of her more entertaining novels.

I'm now apprehensive reading The Fury considering how mixed everyone's been feeling about it (although I liked The Maidens so I might be in the minority). Overall I had some 4 stars and some 5 stars but also quite a few 2-3 stars so it's been very colourful reading month :D

You should read Ghostland by Duncan Ralston. I read it as an ARC back in 2020. This was the scariest book I have ever read. I was literally dreading turning the page at times. The story takes place in a haunted theme park. I'm curious to see if you will like it.

You should check out Atlas of the heart by Brené brown it’s non fiction and I don’t read a lot of nonfiction but this was amazing it’s categorized as self-help, but it’s not that kind of self help lol I can’t really stand those preachy ones this one just encapsulates what it means, and how it feels to be a human the audiobook is a must to btw!!!
