Pretty good concept. I'd go: The First Law (original trilogy) - Joe Abercrombie The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien Of Blood & Bone - John Gwynne Licanius - James Islington And I have a feeling, once I finish them, these will go on there: Godblind - Anna Stephens Memory, Sorrow, & Thorn - Tad Williams one of the Robin Hobb trilogies not names Farseer

Petrik,I would love to see you review the swan's war trilogy by Sean Russell. It's starts with the book the one Kingdom. It's the most overlooked amazing fantasy series ever. It came out in 2000 I believe and I think it was just a victim of the fact that people weren't reading fantasy as much then. It would have been wildly successful if it was written after 2006 or so when fantasy started to blow everyone that does actually read it loves it to death and wonders why it isn't talked about more. So amazing. Please give it a try sometime. Sean Russell so deserves to be talked about.

That's funny you mention world building with mistborn and easy you can visualize it. That was the biggest part for me that I struggled with. I just couldn't picture it all the way it should be (or close) and felt like lacked it that area. Also felt predictable for most part. Couple good plot twist still and did like the magic concept. Maybe just me and the time I read it because it was right after a big sci-fi book. Haven't read second trilogy in that world and think it will fit my visual of the world better being farther in time versus first trilogy. Hopefully.

As usual, some good stuff here sir! I'd love to add the following works for your consideration: 1) The original "Black Company" trilogy by Glen Cook. I don't even feel the need to elaborate here...just read em'. 2) Ursula Le Guin's original "Earthsea" trilogy. The characters, language and setting here are just so impressive! 3) "The True Game" trilogy (Peter Series) by Sheri S. Tepper. All three (yes, 3) of the trilogies in the True Game cycle by Tepper are wonderful, and honestly, I think the Jinian trilogy is probably the best, but you've got to start with the Peter trilogy...it just won't make sense otherwise. 4) Anne McCaffrey's original "Dragonriders of Pern" trilogy and "Harper Hall Trilogy." SOOOO GOOOD! 5) Elizabeth Moon's "The Deed of Paksenarrion." Quite possibly the greatest female protagonist I've ever had the pleasure of reading! 6) Richard Morgan's "A Land Fit For Heroes" trilogy. Good lord man, here is the absolute king of "grimdark." Not even Erikson's "Malazan," is as worthy a successor to Cook's "Black Company" as this. Abercrombie? Eat your heart out! Brutal and beautiful. 7) N.K. Jemison's "Broken Earth" series. She's awesome. Really. 8) Stephen Donaldson's original "The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever." One of the best examples of the "anti-Tolkien." No optimistic, predictable prose here. Just a character, and a series, that will stick with you forever! 9) Scott Bakker's "The Prince of Nothing" trilogy. Challenging, mesmerizing, philosophically irritating, it's fantastic! D

Another one that's already on my radar for years, not sure when I'll get to this one, too. 7. I've read Broken Earth trilogy. I loved the first and third book but the second one didn't really click with me. Overall a great trilogy! 8. If I end up loving The Gap Cycle, I'll make sure to check this one out! 9.
