I love this style of video. Some popular books peak my interest and immediately disappear into my TBR void 🤷♀️ this is a way for me to "read" them super quick and decide if they should move up on the list. Love you and this channel! ❤

Last week I went to Brian Keene’s extreme horror bookstore In Pennsylvania and bitch it was the best day of my fucking life!!!! If you’re ever in that area I couldn’t recommend it more, Brian is such a nice cool guy and his store is legit heaven for extreme horror fans. I spent over 300 dollars and I got so many new books and a bunch of them were signed! Also the prices were amazing, I got a signed Kristopher triana, a signed Aron Beauregard, a signed chandler Morrison, and a signed Shane McKenzie. He had all kinds of horror old and new so he also had like Judith sonnet and Daniel Volpe and more current writers. It was literally the highlight of my year and and in September he’s doing an extreme horror extravaganza with all the most famous extreme horror authors and I want to go so bad 😩!! The store is Called vortex comics and books btw

@@ReadingWithMeg it’s in a tiny town called Colombia, it’s the cutest town with all these little shops, it was like an hour and a half - two hours from Philly! I’m from Florida and I legit flew all the way there to go to this bookstore. If you went you should totally do a vlog for the channel, that would be so fun!!

I wish I had known going in that the book was satire, I feel like reading it as if the author was being serious just ruined it for me.

This should be a proper series on your channel, I've read all three entries so far and let me share my THOUGHTS. Cows by Stokoe - for the smart extreme horror girlies, gross and absurd but plenty of social commentary. Decent enough but it's no Julia. Zola by McLusky - this isn't even a horror, it's just vile and gross with fecal matter and rotten cheese everywhere. This book is Sabrina Carpenter. Dead Inside - I think this book is HILARIOUS and definitely for the rom com extreme horror girlies. This is SO Julia.

If you ever want to take a break from sad, unhinged woman books, I just finished a sad, delusional man book, and it's probably one of the best books I've read in a while. It's This Disaster Loves You by Richard Roper. I think I've found a lit-fic author I will actually read from again, finally!

I don’t care if this puts me on a registry of some sort or if the FBI is going to come take me to crazy town… I fucking love this book! It was my fav book I read last year and is one of my fav extreme horror books of all time. It is so fucking outrageous and ridiculous and it made me audibly crack up out loud, the part where he says something like “if the football was switched with a baby I wouldn’t have failed gym” had me SCREAMING! I know people rly don’t love this book but the satire just rly worked for me and it introduced me to chandler Morrison who is my favorite extreme horror author/ general author of all time

A book I suggest which is good is Holus Bolus By William Pauley Jr, this book was great and I read it in one sitting 😊 I was hooked I have slowly been reading all this authors books now Description OUR PROTAGONIST is pretty sure he's just committed a murder. The body is newly dead, he's the only one around, and a quick look at the evidence suggests he's guilty as sin. Also, he's totally insane. A rare brain condition causes his memories to reset every day, and because of this, he often wakes up in strange places with no memory of how he got there. He can't even remember his own name. When he's not racking his brain over his shoddy memory, he's arguing incessantly with a disembodied voice that doesn't seem to belong to him, one he can only hear inside his head. He may not know much about the troubling situation he just woke up to, but he knows, without a doubt, that he's completely f*cked. While the odds are certainly stacked against him, there may be hope for our protagonist yet, for clutched in the corpse's cold, clammy hands is a handwritten tome that suggests not only his innocence, but also reveals some bizarre and dangerous secrets, leading him to believe his own apartment building may be to blame... or is, at the very least, an accomplice.

Sounds similar in some ways to "Crash" by J.G. Ballard, a notorious lit-fic exploration of humanities darker recesses. (The film adaptation is worth checking out too.)
