I absolutely agree that reading Dune in a day is not the best way to comprehend this type of story. But 20 hours is the time it takes to read it aloud and with actual acting put in. People tend to read times faster when there's no need to speak, so the task of finishing it in a day it is possible, though difficult and kinda not the way I'd suggest to enjoy the story and it's themes.

Dune is a novel that is not an easy read for me. I have to switch from the story itself to the glossary within the book most of the time to understand most concepts and terms. In this way, I can be more immersed on the narrative. I try to read it slowly, i don't want to rush by finishing the book as fast as I can. I currently loving it, it's amazing.

But when I find a really good book, like Dune, I can't help but concentrate. But I like to challenge my brain to think in different ways and imagine different worlds. Dune was great for that, Stranger in a Strangeland (Robert Heinlein) also. If I'm honest, these days I don't read books, hardly watch movies, just look for synopsis/analysis. Prefer science.

All rules of books were broken in this one short: - Cracked the spine - Dog eared the page - Folding in the cover - And creasing the pages I now need deep therapy

Yeah I have to agree that you didn't absorb all the info in dune. There's whole new concepts, religions and all kinds of other things that frank Herbert tossed in there. I've read the whole dune series a few times and I go back to reading it because I forgot details about it that I would like to know so yes you read it but did you gain from this wonderful packed story.

I think her open page was on chapter 8 or 9, in case anyone wonders. Also why is her book so big? I have an equally sized book containing the first 3 Dune novels, but hers only has Dune. How big is her text?

Idk how you understood it, it took me like 2-3 rereads to actually completely understand what I was reading and that’s for the entire series. Haha

Hey everyone she had the audiobook playing at 2X speed, notice the headphones on her head. Still got to give it to her though for sitting there for almost 11 hours pretending to read a book. Pretty impressive actually. Anyways a lot of people do this now. Especially people that are reading a book for school. Make sense when you think about it.

If you like to keep your books in pristine condition that is okay! But if someone wants to crack spines and bend pages, that's okay, too! Books are meant to be read, and frankly, books with evidence of messed up pages and torns cover with cracked spines and drink stains is evidence of a story well loved.

Damn a lot of haters and skeptics in the comments here? Also the book is easy to understand, and I’m new to books. However my first book was the count of Monte Cristo, maybe that’s why Dune felt so easy to read. But judging by the comments, it is difficult for others somehow.
