Perks of being a wallflower is my favorite book of all time and I absolutely love it and btw just the way you talked about the books just makes me want to read all of them I'm the most excited for shadow of the wind since clockwork reads also mentioned it on her channel and please check out Taylor Swift's recs cause I just love that woman and I'd love to find out what kind of books she likes 😄

Much awaited! So good to watch it. Happy Navratri to all the people here. Hope you're all fine. Now about the video, all the books today are very new and fresh recommendations, except Perks of being a wallflower, that book Shruti talked about before. I've also heard good reviews about Persepolis. Shadow of the wind definitely intrigued me as a historical fiction lover. Shruti, you have very recent copy of Remains of the Day I guess, they have changed the cover design and it is very pretty now. Also, Faber & Faber prints book of excellent quality, I've few from this publisher, all of them are very very good. Now, about reading Japanese writers, I've never been very fond of them. I've read Remains of the Day and A pale view of hills by Kazuo Ishiguro, they seemed not so great to me, but definitely better than Murakami 😃. I look forward to read Before the coffee gets cold by Kawaguchi to revive my love for Japanese literature, which is definitely very rich.

It’s so interesting. Because I wouldn’t consider The Remains of the Day as Japanese literature. Because Ishiguro is actually British and the book is also soooo British in nature. And yeah, I guess The Remains of the Day isn’t for everyone because it’s so specific in terms of the subject matter and just not relatable at all unless you have an interest in that kind of lifestyle of old English aristocracy I guess. But what did you think of his writing style?

@@fandomnewbie yes, I considered him a Japanese writer, as majority of the themes in his writing revolve around Japan. A pale view of hills is similar in nature. Though the literature itself differentiates Ishiguro from Murakami in the fact that Ishiguro writes in English, whereas Murakami's works are translated to English. What i felt while reading Ishiguro's writing that, his style is subtle and calm, not many ups and downs, I wouldn't refer it as flat, but somehow subsurface in tone. I mean, his writings are not very explicit or inclusive and you have to concentrate, feel the environment and be there for that moment of reading to digest his reading. It is not hard to read, but hard to align with his writing.

@@fandomnewbie oh yes Fermin, a very unforgettable character, I felt sad for him but at the same time was inspired by his loyalty and undying spirit. My favorite in the book is Julian Carax, he started out as pretty mysterious and kinda dark but ended up so tragic!

mam i saw your video which is about how to read english books for beginners so it is helpful for me but here i also have difficulty when i was reading a news paper i had lots of new words because of that my reading link was broken and i started to find those new words and because of that i was board and even i did not understand the whole article and same situation occurs when i have read a book. even i started to find how they form the sentences because of that again i do not understand so these kind of difficulties i have been facing so pls mam what should i do pls tell me.
