And btw he was referring to the song. In the video “ Harry Styles opens fan-mail” someone asked why did you choose fine line to be the name of your album? Did i read this right? Is there other pages? Nope. There is so many little stuff and details that u just wont get no matter what and that is incredible. It is a book that makes u think reflect and be open to new things that u r not used to like a literal new society and bend ur mind to understand them it was so cool to read this, that is something so unusual n unique btw im barely 14 so i may get some details wrong

@@msnair3603 I say they are all worth reading. My biggest suggestion for reading Murakami is to take your time and really think about what you're reading. Sometimes you can get lost in how blunt/weird his stories get, but they are always deep and contain meaning beyond the words on the page. My current favorite is Kafka on the Shore. I haven't had the chance to read it but I've heard 1Q84 is also really good. Hope you love your new book!!

His writing seems a bit weird at first read but when you sit and think about it, it starts making so much sense that sometims I just lose my mind at how accurately he can hit the nail. Same by far my favourite. I have every book hes written except the non fiction about classical music. I agree kafka on the shore is such a good one. I also loved dance dance dance (although didnt realise it was the sequel so makes more sense if you've read a wild sheep chase), and wind up bird chronicle. Killing commentator is really interesting but very long so not an easy start. South of the border, west of the sun is the one I recommend for people getting into murakami. Its not so long and sort of dials up his style through it so you get eased into it. I adore his writing though. And that he uses punctuation the way people think rather than strict grammar rules. With the surrealist style you find somehow his writing always has a metaphor to fit your life at the time.

I read the book after somebody in a youtube comment sectiom said that it was his favourite book and I was so disappointed. His writing style just doesn't do a lot for me and I was also very much disturbed by that one sex scene (I think you know which one I mean).
@bebitter
@bebitter 4 жыл бұрын
@@kristinbornemeier2523 I totally get what you mean! I think Murakami is quite hit-or-miss for most. For my personal taste there is too much inconsequential sex in all of the books I have read by him. Especially THAT sex scene in "norwegian wood" is something I try to ignore whenever I re-read it. Still it has a special place in my heart. Also just fyi: a lot of his main characters are very similar (age, personality, motivations etc.), which is great if you enjoyed Watanabe, but if you didn't... you probably won't like many other Murakami novels. (I'm starting to get quite sick of his writing myself, after having binged 3 of his books recently)
@kristinbornemeier2523
@kristinbornemeier2523 4 жыл бұрын
@@bebitter Yeah I know what you mean. For me THAT sex scene really ruined the whole book for me. I mean it would be fine if he had mentioned for plot reasons but I really dislike how descriptive he was about that particular scene. Still, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who feels this way. Also started reading Kafka on the Shore but have abandoned it currently. I think I just can't relate to or sympathise with the characters just like with Sally Rooney's "Normal People".
@aishnasharma
@aishnasharma 4 жыл бұрын
@@kristinbornemeier2523 I have a similar opinion about it. The hype of the book baffles me. I couldn't find anything gripping in it and after I had finished reading it, I wished I had never read it. The characters were bland, unrelatable and even annoying. The plot mostly seemed to comprise of sex + death. Although there were a couple things that I liked, I was disappointed with what so many people recommend as a must-read.
@bebitter

@@kristinbornemeier2523 I'm 100% with you on "normal people". SO mayn people love it, but I could never see myself or any of my friends acting similar to (both or either of) the main characters so I really didn't understand how the plot kept playing out lmao + Sally Rooney's writing didn't help, just... bland.

I absolutely adored Norwegian Wood! It was such a great book. There weren't a lot of plot twist but that was exactly what this book needed for it to be so amazing. I read it so quickly. Especially towards the end, it just leaves you wondering "What the hell just happened?" and you kinda have to figure out the end yourself as there isn't a clear description of how Toro's life goes on after what happens in the book.
