@@msnair3603 I say they are all worth reading. My biggest suggestion for reading Murakami is to take your time and really think about what you're reading. Sometimes you can get lost in how blunt/weird his stories get, but they are always deep and contain meaning beyond the words on the page. My current favorite is Kafka on the Shore. I haven't had the chance to read it but I've heard 1Q84 is also really good. Hope you love your new book!!

@@dpeace6015 Totally agree with you. His writing seems a bit weird at first read but when you sit and think about it, it starts making so much sense that sometims I just lose my mind at how accurately he can hit the nail. Reading his books is an experience no other author has ever been able to gift me!! And yeah, Kafka On The Shore is definitely one of my top 3s. Currently reading Pinball, 1973 :)
@hydrosphere84473 жыл бұрын
Same by far my favourite. I have every book hes written except the non fiction about classical music. I agree kafka on the shore is such a good one. I also loved dance dance dance (although didnt realise it was the sequel so makes more sense if you've read a wild sheep chase), and wind up bird chronicle. Killing commentator is really interesting but very long so not an easy start. South of the border, west of the sun is the one I recommend for people getting into murakami. Its not so long and sort of dials up his style through it so you get eased into it. I adore his writing though. And that he uses punctuation the way people think rather than strict grammar rules. With the surrealist style you find somehow his writing always has a metaphor to fit your life at the time.

I read the book after somebody in a youtube comment sectiom said that it was his favourite book and I was so disappointed. His writing style just doesn't do a lot for me and I was also very much disturbed by that one sex scene (I think you know which one I mean).
@bebitter4 жыл бұрын
@@kristinbornemeier2523 I totally get what you mean! I think Murakami is quite hit-or-miss for most. For my personal taste there is too much inconsequential sex in all of the books I have read by him. Especially THAT sex scene in "norwegian wood" is something I try to ignore whenever I re-read it. Still it has a special place in my heart. Also just fyi: a lot of his main characters are very similar (age, personality, motivations etc.), which is great if you enjoyed Watanabe, but if you didn't... you probably won't like many other Murakami novels. (I'm starting to get quite sick of his writing myself, after having binged 3 of his books recently)

Charles Bukowskis work is near and dear to my heart. To hear how Harry Styles someone who I admire feels the same way is kind of mind blowing.

11:09 Thank you Jack for being brutally honest about the book... I really liked the way you openly told that you didn't like it. And still you had to lighten the mood up by appreciating the cover lol that was so cute and nice of you♥

Harry is an old soul, he is well settled in heart, that is why He might have liked Course of Love. Oh one more reason to love him.

I read Bukowski again and again. He’s so vulgarly honest about human emotions, sexuality, self hatred and shame- and how it flowers within oneself.

I was wondering what Harry was reading and what he'd recommend. Thanks for this video, since the past 2 years I have read more books then I have in my whole entire life tbh! Just got 4 books for my birthday and a book gift card which I'm most definitely am going to spend on at least 2 of these books, covered in this video! So thank you again!

Just wanna point out that it is impossible to separate the concept of “Camp” from sexuality (and Gender) considering its origins are deeply rooted in the LGBTQ+ community, particularly in the communities and culture of black and brown LGBTQ+ people.

Thanks so much for this, Jack! I recently became a fan of Harry’s, and I heard an interview of his in which he recommended Norwegian Wood. Since I had just finished a book and was looking for something else to read, I decided to give it a try, and although I’m still a little more than halfway through, I really like it so far. I’ll have to see if I can find My Policeman and Three Women. Both of those caught my attention.

My fav part about his videos is how he immediately explains the complicated words. Like yeah I could pause the video and google it, but something about being told the meaning of a word right after you hear it in a conversation/for the first time makes it more easier for me to understand it better Tysm for that Jack

The way you are so invested in what you do is so evident and it makes people like me who can't keep up with reading, want to read. So I'm just gonna go ahead and order a few of these books. Also because Hazza 😭♥️ Thanks for this beautiful mix of literature and pop culture.

I absolutely adored Norwegian Wood! It was such a great book. There weren't a lot of plot twist but that was exactly what this book needed for it to be so amazing. I read it so quickly. Especially towards the end, it just leaves you wondering "What the hell just happened?" and you kinda have to figure out the end yourself as there isn't a clear description of how Toro's life goes on after what happens in the book.
