Have you ever read any John Saul? He's similar to Stephen King but is an author I rarely see mentioned by readers. I love his books - quick horror reads that have stayed with me over a decade later. I started reading him in High School... sure kept me up a few nights back then! But even then, I found his books enjoyable - and short! He doesn't have any tomes like King but I kinda like that.

@sydneydunn7507Ай бұрын
I appreciate the honesty and how you do 24 hour videos. Doing 24 hours videos and actually staying up that long is so unhealthy. Also, just putting this out there again I would really love a Stephen King video where you read all of the books that are connected to the dark Tower series I think that would be so much fun, but it would take a lot. It would be like a year-long process honestly

It'd be cool if you invested more into the world of horror books. Stephen King is great do not get me wrong but there are some awesome authors out there that write amazing horror. Ronald Malfi is one of them. I highly recommend you reading Bone White by him. Or if you are more into Thriller I recommend Come With me by him. I love horror books and to see someone just think of Stephen King as a horror author makes me sad.
@maypasifiki9360Ай бұрын
Thanks for the other author recommends. I'm constantly trying to expand my genre & author. Ian also appreciates Kings other genre's if you meant that "someone" to be him.
@nathanbeer3338Ай бұрын
As a Stephen King fan, there are certain books that I couldn't stand continue reading them (looking at Needful Things while writing this) and some that I forced myself to read like Insomnia and Black House that I would've dnfed if they didn't have a strong convention to the Dark Tower series, so don't feel bad if you dnf a book by one of the best American authors. Other than certain books, Stephen King is defiantly one of my favorite authors in the world, and there are other worlds than these. 🔫🌹

Reading Stephen King has always been on my to-do list, but honestly, I've no idea where to start. Any recommendations on which book to read as a tester/intro to him as an author? Which book got you hooked?

Honestly, staring at the very beginning with”Carrie” would be your best bet. If you want some extra recs, go to Red Fury Books’ channel - he has a phenomenal Stephen King guide! I started with the “Dark Tower” series (wouldn’t recommend if you’re just starting out). The book that got me hooked for good was “IT”

I know that you regularly both read and listen to a book. What I find interesting is that you're not using Amazon which allows you to do an audio upgrade for pretty cheap. That's what I do. However, I'd rather just read a physical book. I was wondering if you're buying a physical book and then an audiobook at full Audible price? Just looking for ideas.

I usually get audiobooks for free via the Libby app or find one on KZbin. I also have a monthly subscription to Libro.fm (which is an audiobook/other media app). It’s like Audible in a way, only part of your monthly payment goes to a local, independent bookstore of your choosing

I used to love Stephen King UNTIL he started inserting his political views in his books! I hate that! I read to get away from the real world….he just keeps inserting his known hatred for Trump in the last few books I’ve read. It’s annoying and I don’t care if he’s a democrat or a republican! I just want to be entertained! I’m done with him and it’s sad because I really liked his books! 😢
