Thanks for your reviews! When you list the books, would it be possible to add your rating next to the titles? I listen to your videos while commuting to work and then refer to your list once I'm back home, so seeing your ratings would be helpful in deciding what to add to my Goodreads WTR list!

The Heart Principle is so very good. I loathed Anna’s sister, but Quan is one the best heroes I’ve read in a while.

Loved the devil and the heiress, the lady gets lucky, the heart principle, act your age eve brown, one last stop, the ex talk, the charm offensive. I agree with your thoughts on the ones you didn’t like too. And a few are on my tbr: seven days in June and the fastest way to fall. 🤩

Great video! I just missed you pointing out that both the heart principle and Act your age, Eve Brown feature autistic (main) characters, because that is a major plot device in the book and also a major representation win for autistic people (like me!). It's clear pretty early on (I think it's even in the summaries?), so it wouldn't spoil anything if you'd have mentioned it.

Seven Days in June has become my fav book of all time (what Forget Me Not is to you, is SDIJ to me) - it just spoke to my soul and i adored everything about it. I'm SOOOO happy you enjoyed and I'm so glad it's starting to get more hype! 💗 I didn't mind King of Battle & Blood (i think at the time i read it, i just wanted a steamy romantasy so it worked for me), but i agree that there was a lottt that was underdeveloped. I'll pick up the next book with the hopes that the magic system, plot, and characters (specifically the villain bc they fell super flat to me) are more fleshed out! Also, YESS to the year of DNF and not reading things that don't appeal to you just because there's hype surrounding them! I think it's important to branch out and try new genres and authors, but i plan to do that with books that appeal to me - i want to be more intentional with my reading and book-buying and if there's a book I'm interested in that happens to be super hyped then that's great too (ie the Charm Offensive - I'm dyyying to read that one)! Great video, Jess - love these types!

I actually really loved Isn't it Bromantic? I wasn't expecting to like it at all because I never felt a real connection with the Russian throughout the first three books. I just really enjoyed the Russian's character development in this one. I also need to look into the Harper St. George books soon because they sound super good

I'm glad a few historical romances made it on this list (especially after that terrible Goodreads list), though I do find it awful that brilliant authors like Lisa Kleypas, Lorraine Heath, and Sarah Maclean (all of whom has 2021 releases) were ignored. :(
@stephaniefoster19643 жыл бұрын
I know, right? I read the articles about these 'lists' and come away thinking- does this person actually read romance novels, or did they start after Bridgerton showed up on Netflix and they decided that reading romance is okay and they better get started.🤔😒

I checked into this, an indie author Victorine E. Lieske has some pretty cute,some like now what can happen b9oks on KZbin in audiobooks. She is the person whose page they are on, I have listened to like 6 or 7 already. These 3 are on there also and if I remember they are historical but don't quote me.. Caroline Mickelson, Courtney Cole and Raylinr Marks. I just saw VERITY on there a few days ago. Megan Quinn has quite a few on there. I might be quirky but I really liked the Andersons by Melody Ann and T.S. Swan...maybe I like them because they are pallette cleansing for deeper plots. Actually, I listened to Nicholas Sparks The Wish, I kept looking to make sure it was him. It wasn't the same ol thing. It was 4 stars!

Sad to say discreet covers sell more... When you shared on your story about Beverly Jenkins potential new cover I cringed with the common centered redesign that doesn't follow the branding of the previous books. It's bad enough she has yet to have a stepback, now on top of that making them all look the same, illustrated or photographed. I don't care for design trends. The question is does it fit the story? Simple illustrated covers feel YA to me.

Independently published romances are some of the best books in my opinion. Re Historical romances:- have you read any books by Teresa Medeiros? All were originally published from 1989 to 2013 and I gave 5 or 4 stars to every one I read - which is most of them. She has since republished them herself as e-books (Amber House Books).

Both Spoiler Alert and All the Feels felt really weird! The characters are supposed to be late 30s, maybe 40 but they act so immature. I have to put that fact out of my brain to make it plausible.

I don’t remember that so much in Spoiler Alert, but the hero in All the Feels felt early 20s and not late 30s.
