Stephen didn't call him "Steve", it was the transition between two cuts---Stephen's lips read "David" but the audio sounded like "Steve" because there was an "S" sound in the beginning that came from the end of the 1st cut when someone was about to say something like "S.." , but then it immediately cut to the "David" goodbye closing which made it sound like "Sdave(Steve)".
