It’s reassuring to see someone of your caliber struggling...I certainly hated the situation you were in, but I loved hearing your thought processes...I think we all can relate to biting off more than we can chew 😂 I love what you did with it...and that color is gorgeous! Wow, what an amazing transformation! All those chips and divots, and it looks so smooth and sophisticated now. Even though your original plan for this piece was not feasible ( my heart sank for you) it turned out absolutely amazing. 💖💖💖

Beautiful pivot, Katie! She looks lovely and the hardware is the perfect touch. Sometimes the furniture really does have its own ideas about what should be done. That color is gorgeous and I hope you get many years of enjoyment from her. I would consider this one a big success!🌸

I'm not a person who is into painting antiques, but sometimes it is the only solution, and I loved the color you used. The end result is lovely.And as you said , it will now have a chance at one more life. I don't like to see furniture painted with a brush. It looks so much better sprayed.

I love Katie's professional determination. Ar the point of realising it wasn't working, I would have put it in the shed for 1 and a half years of regret and procrastination before deciding to paint it 😅

Your furry friend is so precious. I absolutely love the finished product. Even though it didn't go as planned, it ended up beautiful. Well done! I got a piece that's "jewelry" was way too shiny for me and soaking it in Coca Cola gave it the aged patina I was looking for. I always love your videos.

Well... even though it didn't turn out as you planned, it still turned out beautifully! She got a lot of love to try and restore her to her previous glory, but in the end I think you did what you had to. This piece will go on to grace someone's home with its beauty for years to come! Well done!

I am yelling into the computer, "FILL THE HOLES, SAND IT DOWN AND PAINT THE WHOLE THING". i am half way through the video so will have to see what you do. Ya listened to me..lol an old 77 yr old woman. I had this exact serpentine chest 25 years ago that I stripped and re stained in a light stain. The veneer was all in good shape and I didn't have to go through all the heart aches you did. An excellent result with yours, love it. (Ontario here)

Oh Katie, what a heartbreaking nightmare! So sorry it didn’t end up the way you were hoping, but the paint color you used looks fabulous so I’m sure it will enjoy a lovely third life. (So much better than its second life! Not sure what the previous owner was thinking with that lumpy chalk paint. 🤷‍♀️) Fingers crossed you can find the perfect piece in your next search.

I agree with you on this one. I firmly believe you only paint when it’s absolutely necessary. In this case it was absolutely necessary. And it looks great. The only thing I may have done different, is if I had some veneer that would fit the top, glue it on and have a nice looking wood top.

Thank you for showing how to determine when to go in another direction. I am working with a project that is not working. When I got into it there were multiple issues. Now I feel I can drop my original plan an think of another. Your new plan worked beautifully. It looks so good.

Ohhhhhh. I FELT this video in my bones. Hahaha I’ve had so many “quick flips” that ended up just having one thing after another go wrong. So I feel your pain. You made the best of a rough situation. I absolutely applaud the effort of trying to save the wood but sometimes it’s just a no go. Awesome job, great video! ❤

Oh, God…I wish you lived near me!!!!!! You are “da-bomb!” I have so many old and antique pieces I inherited from my grand parents and they all could use some refurbishment…especially a dining room sideboard I have. It truly is a learning experience for those of us who are beginning in restoration and it's also interesting to watch you troubleshoot to find a solution. THANK YOU for sharing the bumps in the road. I’m on my first flip and I used chalk paint and it’s looking horrific! I’m exhausted from researching wtf to even do and after a good long cry I put that bitch on a time out in the garage. Pivoting to a new project and will circle back to that disaster later. I know she didn’t end up the way you envisioned, but it’s so beautiful!

My heart feels for you on wanting so much for this serpentine princess dresser to be oak. I’ve been down this road n it can be so disappointing. I had no idea veneer was that expensive but I think you did the right thing. The color you used is really pretty n her jewelry makes it stunning. I sure hope you’ll have better luck finding one for the other side of the bed. Give yourself a pat on the back as you did a great job on her n she’s beautiful no matter what. This one looks like if it was going to painted it is for those colorful, floral, fancy types, and give them the harps, get the mirror replaced. I kind of wish you'd just put up with the imperfect wood and stained it the way you envisioned..... maybe drawn some wood grain in with the superfine special paintbrush tool 🖌 looming things in different shades and made it your own. Hard to see it get so close but so far... ;) with you. 💕😘

When you were doing the major assessment I figured you were gonna say "No way, I'm done." But instead you embraced it's wholeness and prettied her up. I was a tad surprised at the paint color, but I get it about that's whatcha had. Good effort Katie. :-)

That piece is beautiful. I really love it. Great job. I’m sorry it wasn’t exactly what you envisioned but it turned into a happy accident if you ask me. That piece will bring someone joy in the future.
