You just have to work on that spot back there but just get creative and think of new things. I had the same type alopecia spot in the middle of my head. I also have Loc’s. I went to the dermatologist and they did injections in the spot. About 3. And all my hair is back. It is nonscarring alopecia. I had my hair up in a loc bun and the tension causes inflammation and so on. I stay away from tension styles for that reason. The injections were a lifesaver. And destress too.

Cut your hair to save your hair line. Coming from someone who had locs for a long time with practically the same curl pattern. You’ll regret what all that tension does to your hair overtime. Locs work best with coarser hair

So I COMPLETELY understand the big decision of a massive change as I’ve grown and cut my hair at least 3-4 times. And I’m not talking shoulder length either, I had it LONG every time. Now that being said just do it bro, don’t cut half, just hack it all off at the scalp so you have length to reattach some year or sell. It’s just hair and it does feel amazing to hack it off after it’s been long for years. Just DONT cut it halfway, that’s completely pointless and you will regret it! Just get cornrows, two strand twist, tie your hair up with no braids etc. You can rock different hairstyles and take a break from having dreads. Never cut your hair if u are not truly done with it cuz u will literally decide to grow it right back out.

I just started my 5th set of locs 2 weeks ago and they're the best set I've ever had! After 18 months of growing out my hair. My advice to you Gunther is cut half off like the length of that one you cut. Then you can pick them out and save the cut off locs. Remember to do a good trim after picking them out and eventually you could line up the back a little finer.
