i working for subaru nad i will give you one type. Before you pull the engine you can leave all the accessory cables and pipes on the engine and pull it out with it and remove it when the engine is out of car, it will save you a lot of work, the same as the engine is finished, you can install everything before you put the engine in the car. Just disconnect the gearbox, engine mounts, electronics and some pipes. Sorry for my English, I'm from Czech. Otherwise really nice work

Thanks for the info! I wish we would’ve known this before tearing it all apart nearly two years ago. Good news is that I now know where everything goes and how it goes!

Definitely sounds like scraping or binding. Power steering may not be bled, which would sound like that squeal. Check all hoses, clamps and keep revs low until you can figure it out. Good luck 🤝

It looks like you guys installed a new power steering system, but it seems like it wasn’t properly bled and primed. To do that, you should have raised the front of the car and cycled the steering wheel from full left to full right a few times to ensure proper fluid circulation. Also, the car sounds like it has an exhaust leak. I recommend replacing the headers and downpipe - that should help the new turbo perform more efficiently. There also seems to be a vacuum leak somewhere that could be causing issues. As for the clunking noise you mentioned, it’s tough to pinpoint just from the video. I build Subarus as a hobby, so I’m familiar with these types of issues. There were definitely some steps you could have skipped during the rebuild process to save time and make things easier. Let me know if you need any more advice!

So, me watching this as I have an 05 STI and my engine is currently out waiting on a few new parts. That scraping sounds like your starter is sticking.

Someone is getting closer to the problem! Stay tuned for the next episode where we talk about what the answer is!

I had similar noise when I added wrong power steering fluid. I changed to red line power steering fluid. Or it just could be leak causing the problem

Hopefully you see this, definitely sounds like the starter isn’t disengaging or something with the flywheel is rubbing. Don’t keep running and driving it til you find that out, why rush just cause it starts.

Throw out bearing I had this issue

the grimmspeed aos isn't good for cold climates because it will not evaporate the water and then the water will go back in the oil which is the opposite of the pcv system purpose and it can even cause major problems at worst. iag aos with coolant lines to heat it or a catch can is better in cold places. probably won't apply to you but it applies to me if you push the gas pedal all the way down when cranking it, the car wont start, its a built in priming mode basically, might depend on what year car but it worked on my 05 smoke is always normal first start that scraping rubbing screeching meatal on meatal noise is NOT normal, to put it bluntly it sounds like shit, figure out what it is asap DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR ON A STOCK TUNE, YOU WILL BLOW IT UP. if anything changes about the car, you need a new tune basically check turbo oil drain
@Jacobball32Crew13 күн бұрын
New tune is a must. We’ve made a few calls/emails and have narrowed down what our noise is coming from!
@Msspeed-jj3km10 күн бұрын
Or your flywheel is backwards or if it has a plate between the trans and motor that could be rubbing
@Jacobball32Crew10 күн бұрын
Thankfully the flywheel we put in can only go in one way. If you haven't seen the last episode you should check it out as that has a good clue as to what is happening.

You guys need to research your projects and plan accordingly with the correct parts. Before I venture into the unknown I watch a lot of how too videos and go on forums for research. This will save you a ton of time money.

Certainly something we’ve learned tons about on this project and it’s definitely knowledge we will carry forward.

take off the oil filter and do a dry crank to get the oil flowing. It sounds like ur spinning pistons dry.... I mean do you even have oil pressure?
@Jacobball32Crew13 күн бұрын
Priming the system those 4 times was what we were recommended to do to help build oil pressure. Prime the car for 15 seconds, stop for 15 seconds, repeat 5x. We only did it 4 because Dax felt good and wanted to start on the 5th crank.

I think that if he lubricated all the parts in the engine during assembly, it shouldn't be a problem and nothing should get damaged.

That awful noise changes with engine rpm, sounds a lot like the starter isn’t disengaging properly and is sticking.
