The official reason is because they wanted to save money. Which might be true. Even though they were sucessful in recent years before they were disbanded in 2010. Conference Championships (1983, 1984, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007.) Anywho, sorry for rambling on.
