hey man, just so you know, once in a while i get copyright claims on my videos featuring my own compositions. to resolve, i just file disputes or replace the tracks. i agree its extremely tedious (some of my videos are still unmonetizeable as we speak) but i that is my best course of action until the system improves - hopefully with all stakeholders working together and not against each other. wishing you all the best.

Welcome, Rico! Good to hear from you 😉 Replace what tracks in this video, though? Didn't use any part of the original recording, didn't use any of the lyrics and melody. Plus the bulk of the claimed portion of the video is of me playing the solo phrase by phrase and giving commentary and instruction. Already filed a dispute only to be shot down by the ones who claimed copyright, not an unbiased 3rd party, so filing another dispute would be futile. And needless to say replacing the soundtrack with some random royalty-free music that KZbin provides would render the guitar tutorial meaningless (though it would be funny 😂) Yes, the system needs to be improved and I hope the points I raised contribute to its improvement. KZbin will not give a shit whether you compose the song or whatever. They (YT) follows legal claims filed by publishers/copyright owners/etc. And that issue is KZbin’s biggest stink. The only way for musicians to totally use their music (published) is to work with their publisher and ask them to STOP CLAIMING THEIR OWN CONTENT. KZbin is not in the position to interfere with that legal bullshit.

wala akong alam sa copyright masyado pero pag kakaintindi ko binenta nila yung song sa company so meaning pag aari na ng company yung, lyric, melody, or even the lead part. so if tama si sir perfecto meaning to say yung tutorial na ginawa nya ( na hindi nya ginamit yung drum parts no lyrics ) and yung melody ng lead nya is pwede nyang gamitin kahit saan, like he can sell that part para gawing sound track etc etc hindi ba parang recipe yan pag binenta ni chef sa isang restaurant na hindi na nya pwede gamitin for profit. but like i said im no expert to these things... just my 2cents

I think what YT is saying is that it's an all or nothing issue. It's like it doesn't matter if you made part 3,4, and 5, the whole 1 to 10 still gets credited to whoever owns it. That's insane. And it sucks, but maybe that's how they see this issue. What's funny is that there are people who do covers of songs they do not own, yet they still get to have ads on their channels. I'm not sure if they still get copyright strikes though.

Sir Perf your problem also happens to NICK MENZA of Megadeth when he played the drum tracks of HOLY WARS. When it was first released it has a rhythm guitar, bass and lead gtr. minus vocal tracks.... until the band or should I say Mustaine disputed that video for copyright. Then on NICK MENZA and SOULTONE uploaded another video in youtube of Holy Wars and other Megadeth materials with no other tracks except the Drum Tracks, which he arranged during his Megadeth era...

I think I agree with one of the comments below about reaching out to google since they own youtube and making a video call so they can personally confirm that it is your own guitar solo or they could atleast tell you if you if they need legal papers or any other proof like getting statement of confirmaton from the people who are involved in making the song. Anyway, those copyright personnel doesn't realize this but for us Batang 90's we grew up with rivermaya songs, it is undeniable that you master prep is a major contributor for this song and in OPM history. Sir Perf, was there a clause or stipulation in your Rivermaya contract that you signed previously indicating who will be the rightful owner of the song including melody, guitar solo, etc.? It may be you who thought and executed the idea but there might be something written in the contract saying either BMG Pilipinas or someone else would own the copyright. Same case when you develop an idea while working say for Google or KZbin. Sole ownership of your idea will be by the company since you're their employee. Just my 2 cents sir.

Wow, that is really annoying. It is really frustrating to get the same result when you mail them and claim your right/copyright but if you will take this as a lesson you would really have to fight for it. How else would you learn? Take all the advice you can get from people who encountered the same problem. Set a timeframe so it won't really eat you up like you said. If all else fail, find the coldest beer around drink it, consider your work a charity. This might move you to the next level and maybe help other people who are also a victim of this injustice.

Hi Idol. ASCAP's machine learning algorithm is amazingly working well. The only thing that's broken is that the machine learning algorithm for identifying "Perfecto the KZbinr" and "Perfecto the Rivermaya guitarist" are the same. The dispute claim should be the manual override to the algorithm. I have a hunch there was not much rechecking done on the other end of the dispute claim. PS: Epic ang response ni idol Rico Blanco.
