I received the threatening Sarasota Tim email too!

Today, I discuss the threatening email that went out to several KZbin content providers, allegedly, from Sarasota Tim.
My name is Howard and my goal is to bring KZbin viewers interesting and factual information about the process of getting to retirement and living a successful retirement, through my channel, Otter's Retirement Corner. I have a degree in Finance, with an MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, along with an extensive career in financial services, credit and risk management, within the Banking industry. I have extensively studied retirement topics such as: Social Security, Medicare, investing, economics and portfolio withdrawal strategies, to name a few. My own journey getting to retirement and now living within retirement has allowed me to gain an important perspective on those topics. But think about it, Tim could have sent it from a different email address in case he gets in trouble he can say that it was from someone else. Hi Howard. Not gonna change my name. If it helps, it’s LOL-ive-Oyl. The emphasis is on the “LOL” to maybe make you laugh. So why did I take it more seriously? Because of the telephonic threats an agent of Tim’s made to Grandma’s Pocketbook. Not only did Tim know about those, he admitted that they occurred at his direction. I don’t think anyone should underestimate what he or his supporters might do. Regarding the “I’ll crush you” statement: in his since-deleted rant video, he instructed his followers to “go crush them.” There’s a big legal battle going on in court right now about whether or not inciting someone to do something makes you libel. In the end, the intention of one’s words doesn’t matter. What matters is whether the recipient feels threatened. Considering Tim’s involvement in the threatening calls to Grandma’s Pocketbook plus circumstances of more direct, on-going threats to another creator that you aren’t aware of, yes, I perceived it to be more than “I’m gonna crush you in court.” Using a fake Tim account and copying the real Tim is puzzling. One possible explanation is that the writer intended to BCC Tim and he messed up. There’s also more that has happened behind the scenes that I won’t share as it’s not mine to share. In any event, since Tim is aware of what occurred and since he’s admitted to engaging in this kind of behavior in the past, he should connect with the recipients and let them know he doesn’t condone it if he wasn’t involved. He doesn’t need to make a video about it. Just send an email from his true account and say he had nothing to do with ALL the emails (more fake personas have been created). His refusal to do this makes him complicit. I know he has no legal stand and any lawyer worth his/her salt would gently escort Tim out of their office. It’s not any legal threat that bothers me. It’s all the other stuff that’s happening. It’s not like I’m sleeping with one eye open. But I’m also not laughing it off.

Pretty sure it’s not illegal to be a hater. There are some very successful channels on YT specifically designed to create haters that do exceptionally well. On a side note several years ago I pissed off someone on the internet. They retaliated by calling my place of employment in an effort to get me fired. It didn’t work but I can tell you my employer took the call seriously and did investigate me on the allegations. Had I not been a long time employee with no demerits it could have gone bad for me. I laughed it all off initially but not so much afterwards. Damage control can sometimes be costly

I enjoy watching ST only for entertainment. I cut way back on the views due to boredom. The amount of criticism he now gets is over the top and way too much. I am starting to feel sorry for him. Tim could legally bring a lawsuit by accusing a defendant of an invasion of privacy by appropriation of his likeness for profit. A process known as right to publicity. Any KZbin channel using Tim's Image in their Thumbnails or during a video without Tim's concent can be sued. He could sue for a percentage of that videos revenue. Also in some of these videos they make slanderous allegations about how he got some of his money during Covid. These are unfounded attacks and unless they can provide proof they are acting with malice to ruin someone's reputation.

I have a retirement advisor who only works with people ready to retire and needs an income plan.. not a wealth advisor.. he has advised me to take social security at 62 as you mentioned in this video… I’m retiring at 62. His assessment is if you take SS at 62 and with your pension that is enuf to live on monthly expenses and wont have to withdraw from your portfolio other then inflation increases which is better then pulling 5 years from ur portfolio waiting on the 76 full retirement age SS.. the math works out better taking it at 62.. which I will do.. and in just a COUPLE of months.. yay !!

I have seen some of the other channels and what they have posted although I can't be bothered with any of it these days. Just a sign of the times really imo. I will say that your opinions on it all have been logical and well set out in financial terms so it's hard to see how it could be construed as anything other than what you intended it to be.
