Quick life saving tip from a traditional artist! Using charcoal is literally so fun and perfect for deep shadows BUT it can smudge very easily which leads to your art looking washed out/messy (if that's not what you're going for.) To prevent this, for the most part, you can use hair spray to sort of set the charcoal in place so it doesn't smudge as easily!

In my opinion, traditional art it's great for begginers that want to learn completly about drawing theory, since you are exposed to a lot of mistakes! And I recommend to do many sketches at first, once you dominate It then do a whole composition ^^

I think the downside of Traditional art are the expensive coloring tools especially if you really want a high quality art while Digital Art has ALL the Colors you need to make art and much more cheaper and easier to color

I prefer digital art rather than traditional art, but after watching this, I’m in love with the pencil drawing! I think it has more definition than the digital one. Overall, I would still use digital art since I’m much better at it but in the future, I’ll consider traditional art.

I prefer sketching and drawing for fun and practice on paper because of the texture and flow that paper has + scrolling through a sketchbook is more fun than looking through folders. If I'm working on a drawing that I want to properly render or smth I'll draw digitally.

Both excellent in result, no doubt. Personally, while I draw digitally a lot because I work as (self taught) illustrator and digital is preferred for books and magazines, I can't say I enjoy the process...on the other hand, traditional art I enjoy all the way through and it feels way easier to my hand and I feel more creative with it as there is nothing given to you like special patterns and textures, you have to do it yourself. But that's just personal. By the way yes, Saukura Micro ink pen rocks and there are scales to 003, I use them too. But another one that is dashing and smoother in the hand is the Winsor and Newton one.

No idea if you will ever draw on paper with charcoal again, but to avoid making a mess with the pencil, use a separate piece of paper to put under the area of your hand that touches the drawing. The other is to save the little pieces of charcoal that comes out when you sharpen, so you can have material to make shadows taking care of the quantity precisely. I haven't drawn traditionally for years, but I'll never forget those tricks.
