Over my 7 month break from ESO I jumped into GW2. I love it. Got both a necromancer and a guardian to 80. Have 4 crafting professions at max, and I absolutely love my mounts. You can actually die in overland. PvP was actually a ton of fun. Really enjoy my time every time I pick up the game.

I also went from ESO to GW2. It's such a fun game, the community seems so much more laid back and nice from my experience. I'm also an Elementalist main welcome to the party!
@TwelveTables
@TwelveTables Ай бұрын
Just to touch on why elementalist is considered bad/tough for new players. Ele's have low health and armor, lack of cc, high apm, and play more like a battle mage than a traditional mage. That said Elementalists are a great class with the highest dmg potential in the game (lvl80 with specilialzations). When learning the game the high apm means you are either playing the piano or doing sub par dmg (you won't really notice this till lvl 60) The lack of cc means you don't really learn to pop break bars and can't interrupt big attacks and only rely on dodging. Combine both of these with the low hp and armor of the ele while the best weapons put you in melee range and you learn why people consider the down state as party of the ele's rotation. Again lvl80 ele's are monsters and a ton of fun. I just wouldn't recommend them to a new player learning the game due to their unforgiving nature. But if you can lvl an ele to 80 every other class will feel like playing on easy mode.

@@jacksexton8284 I've done the tempest dg/wh and cata spear for ele. Ele will teach you how to dodge and avoid circles extremely well. As a mesmer main I've learned a lot about using interrupts/break bars, distortion and blocks to avoid getting hit. Each class teaches you different things and I highly recommend playing them all at some point.

I'm someone who is in the same boat. I have 10k+ hours in ESO (quit in 2020) and only considered giving GW2 a chance a few months back. I am enjoying this game more than any mmo I have played recently. I've finished the story upto End of Dragons DLC and the PVP is quite enjoyable too with a massive range of build options with different classes. Last but not the least, it's lag free unlike ESO. PVP runs great even when there are 100 players on your screen. Enjoy what you're about to experience with the story. I loved every moment of it!

The lack of lag is a huge plus. My ping in GW2 is half my ping in ESO, and I don't ever get disconnected in GW2 when there are a lot of players in the same area or have issues with skills not firing off. Can't say the same for ESO. Something has felt seriously wrong with ESO's networking for a long time now, and there doesn't seem to be any urgency on Zenimax's part to fix it.

5:00 A lot of the soundtrack of GW2 comes from Jeremy Soule who did the soundtracks from morrowind, oblivion, and skyrim so if you find yourself reminiscing of skyrim or eso because of the music, that's why. 5:22 looks like you died to the npc auto attack. :3 Something that took me a hot minute to get used to when coming over to gw2 from eso was swapping abilities often, specifically the utility skills as you have so few slots in eso. I definitely recommend taking defensive cd's when doing content you aren't familiar with like armor of earth or the greater elemental (water) elite for extra healing 8:25 The dragon story line continues on for a while and both you and the characters around you will learn a lot if you play through it. Yeah the Zhaitan fight is what happens when a cool idea meets the frantic end of budget of a game release in a head on collision. The community for the most part is in agreement that the fight should stay as it is for the memes and not be redone like the living-world season 1 encounter was when they reintroduced it. 10:30 Comment on the masteries here and not the commentary, the final part of the "pact commander" mastery line unlocks autoloot so you don't have to walk up to corpses and press f to loot. It's the #1 QoL mastery to get out of the base series imo. 12:08 The best way to experience WvW is to join a guild focused on the content or get to know people from a guild to know when there's a commander leading a group running a squad. The big fights of 60vs60vs60 are a blast to be apart of with a good commander. There's a legendary crafting material known as the 'Gift of Battle' it's only available through WvW so there's always a reason to jump in. Generation 1 legendary weapons all require 1 each, there's a ring Conflux that requires 5. You can also obtain a legendary backpiece from WvW along with legendary armor of the 6 core slots via the gamemode. What makes legendary gear great beyond the look factor is that you can stat swap the gear at the click of a button and it becomes apart of your "legendary armory" which makes every legendary account wide and available to all characters who can use the gear. Which means unlike ESO there's no need to obtain multiple sets of Relequen for different characters or shuffle a single set of Relequen between character1->bank->character2, as every character in GW2 will have their own copy for free as soon as you unlock one on your account. They also transmog for free too which is awesome. :3 12:55 you can buy up to 2 additional active crafting profession slots (account wide, not per character) via the gem store. Though it's not really necessary because even if you put a crafting profession on "inactive" your progress is still saved and you just need to pay a few silver(scaling with crafting profession level) to swap it again. 13:20 Yeah, if you don't want to farm out legendary gear, which takes a while per piece, you can just obtain ascended gear which has equal stats as legendary gear but doesn't have the stat swapping nor legendary armory feature. Though ascended is still bound to account so you can do the bank shuffle. xD And because they removed the eso equivalent of the 5th item set bonus from runes and transferred it to a relic item slot, there's no need to farm out a new set every time a patch cycle hits. 13:50 Since most classes don't have a resource to manage they'll have CD's and if they do have a resource then the core 10 weapon skills tied to their weapons won't have a CD. Of course in GW2 we have many more abilities available to us at any given time in combat than we do in ESO so cd's in acceptable, imo. Just wait until people learn about the Alacrity boon (buff), it specifically makes cooldowns cooldown faster. Combine that with Quickness which reduces the activation time/cast time of all your skills/abilities/actions by 50% and you'll come to find that organized gameplay is a lot more fast paced than solo/unorganized gameplay. 15:44 One of the best ways to to ensure people play together in a organic manner in overland is to provide incentives and in GW2 they took that to heart as rezzing people gives you exp and as long as you so much as swipe a mob with a feather or even just give someone a crit buff out of a simple passive non interaction skill you'll get credit & loot. xD 17:42 Bottom right of the equipment slot that's missing stats there should be a red circle with a( ! ) mark in it. 18:45 while there are qol issues, there are also many methods to get around the need to swipe. When it comes to bags after you make the 32 slot bag you can make more if you have the gold for it, which for the 5 slots available on a default character that's 160 item slots. While that's less than eso what we can do is convert raw gold to gems (shop currency) and directly buy more slots that way. And for a matter of fact obtain all the gem store items through various ingame gold farming methods too, which is a lot better than ESO's store imo. Just checked current pricing and it'll take 5.5 days of fractal dailies to get enough gold to buy a additional bag slot from the ingame store. And depending on the fractals my group can wrap up each day in 30-50 minutes easy. 19:44 Always wait for sales, the next big one in winterdays which is december and the older expansions are often 50% off. The thing that I like about gw2's expansion purchases over eso's is that the purchase includes everything so there's no nickle and diming for new dungeons or another zone that comes out halfway through an expansions lifetime regardless of when you buy it. When looking at a per year cost between eso and gw2, eso has a 12 month sub fee of $140 while gw2 has a simple annual 1 time expansion purchase of $30 which heavily favors gw2 as you don't lose anything when you stop paying for gw2.

I enjoyed GW2 when I played, but I found the colorblindness accessibility options lacking when compared to ESO. Namely, in ESO, i can make hostile AOEs bright and a color that i can consistently see. GW2 only showed the *outline* of hostile AOEs with a translucent red border with no options for brightness or color. Unfortunately that made hostile AOEs functionally invisible, which was a huge barrier to performing well later in the game.

@@dahudie well, ACHKTYUALLY the wizard vault gold was a response to the daily login gold nerf they did back when SOTO first released. Back then you would get 2g just by logging in, now you have to do 3 dailies to get 1g, and use your wizard coins to get the rest of the gold. Overall, it was a gold nerf. My point is, that isn't the reason gold is easy to get in GW2. It's easy because you get gold by doing anything in the game. When compared to other MMOs, you would have to farm a specific way to farm gold, in GW2, any activity nets you a decent amount.

To be precise, material storage can. Be expanded on terms of the amount of mats. Toy start with max stacks of 250 and can use gems to expand it +250 over and over but yes, ctoy can exchange gold for gems and use the gems to pay do those so it's not pay to win on that (in GW2 you have the bank and the mat storage as 2 diferent things)
@xezzee
@xezzee Ай бұрын
@@KokkeOP Yes, but... Yes, you are correct. The limit is 250 stack of each material. ESO has no access to material storage without subscription in my understanding. But... You have access to Trading Post at all times in GW2 which allows you to sell any items you have 250 stacks in material storage and when you have time you can go craft reducing the amount of materials you have! You can learn all crafting professions in GW2 on one character but you can have only 2 at a time active! you can also use Gems to have more active at the same time. so in GW2 you have material storage that can stack up to 250 as free players which you can expand later and if you happen to hit the cap you can just sell the excess in Trading Post at any time or go Craft until you ran out of the materials ❤ The only limit GW2 has is you should carry Salvage tools. Sure you can buy infinite salvage tools with Gems but that requires grinding Gold to get the Gems or spend money to buy Gems. But the Salvaging tools are cheap and usually player's can afford them. But new players don't know about these things because GW2 lacks any kind of proper tutorials and guidance. I strongly believe Arena net should rebalance and remake the Core Content by making it slighly harder with proper tutorial and some more guidance. But they will never do it for multiple reasons like that the code is a spagetti monster waiting to fall, they are probably making GW3 and if they were to do so they would have done so already.

I started with a sylvari elementalist myself and have stuck with it ever since. Half of my total playtime is on it from among my nine max level characters (one of each profession). I applaud your choice. It's good to point out the complexity of Elementalist and Engineer to newcomers, and that the other game systems also have a lot of complexity to them, but if someone enjoys complexity then they should pick a more complex profession, so as not to get bored. I have tried various control schemes over the years, and one thing that works really nicely for me is slot skills (6-0) on Z,Q,E,R,C and profession skills 1-5 (F1-F5) on shift + Q,E,R,C,F. I also bound the default binds (6-0 and F1-F5) as secondary binds. I wouldn't recommend using either Ctrl, Alt, or Shift for any one action (regularly see shift for dodge for example), as these are valuable modifiers for other keys. Caps lock for a skill has the obvious disadvantage of switching capitalization, unless it's turned off somehow. (I use it for walking slowly and it's still sometimes a bit annoying.) I'm also a bit fan of dodging with a mouse button, mouse wheel click in my case, since it completely independent from what my movement hand does … pinky finger and thumb are too, but all pinky finger buttons have the aforementioned issues or are used for targeting/weapon swapping, or already used for dodging (V, which I kept bound for dodge flipping). Starting with QERT for slot skills, which uses Q for Healing Skill is common, but I feel like it's a bit of a waste, since you usually don't use the healing skill (6) (and the elite skill for that matter) as often as utility skills (7-9).

Also leveled all 9 classes to 80, still haven't done a single strike or raid and I'm not even remotely sad, plenty still to do and with most of the best rewards like legendry's, masteries and achievements being account wide I get to enjoy the benefits no matter what alt I play. Beside the mediocre story my only real complaint so far has been the bi-polar approach to balancing issues with new content, first things are way overpowered then way underpowered and yo-yo along until they settle on something right or wrong. Other than it's the most fun combat system I've ever played in an MMO, so I'm hooked.

GW2 was my main MMO before ESO, and I especially liked WvW. However, I have to confess that I tried going back to it about a year ago, after having been away from it for years, and it just didn't do "it" for me any more. The maps and cities and everything felt a lot smaller - I suppose after having experienced ESO for so long - and there just didn't seem to be a whole lot to do as a solo player, outside of the same ol' quests. In short, I was kind of bored. Granted, my "redive" in to the game was kind of shallow, and there was a lot I didn't remember, but I just didn't have any desire to go on.

Hello.Welcome GW2.I am an old player of the game and I also played all other MMORPG games but it has been years since I decided to spend most of my time in GW2 and play only GW2:Today I joined the live broadcast of a different KZbinr who was new to the game and helped him.The most important thing for all new players to know about GW2 is that they only experience about one percent of the game in the base, free game.When I first started the game, I continued to play the free game for a while.Frankly, this took about a year. Then I bought the game with all its expansions.And even though I've been playing for years, there's still so much content that I haven't seen or done in the game that I think it could take 2-3 years.Don't get me wrong, a long time ago I had the best weapons, armors and eight maximum lvl characters from different classes in the game. In GW2, the best is always the best, there is never a better one.I was interested in races for a while, first of all I made record attempts on different maps on water. Then I started land races and different tracks from easy to difficult. It took me 3 months to master especially Roller Beetle. Then it took me 6 months to master air races and griffin: After that I became interested in pvp games.It was quite fun to do pvp with eight different classes, but I decided to play with the thief. Among the thief subclasses, deadeye was my favorite. So I became a deadly sniper.I decided to try my luck in more crowded battles and entered open world PVP, or WvW in GW2. I died about 50 times on my first day, but I managed to kill one person.Now, every time I enter, even if I kill 50 people, I die once. Lately, I've been playing PVE content that I haven't done yet. Just last week, I found a new area that I went to for the first time. Just as I was about to explore it, the Hallowen event started.After the event is over I will continue exploring. I think I will continue playing the adventures I have been doing in the game for in-game gold later. I really need gold. If you don't know, you can buy everything sold in the cash shop in the game with in-game money. An armor set that I really liked came out, I think there are dozens of them but I like this one too. I want to save money until I buy it. Gw2 is a game that lasts forever and is an MMORPG that is played for fun, not for farming: I don't need anything. The armor set is just a fashion item but I like it.

I been playing ESO and GW2 alongside each other for 8 years now. They are both awesome and the game mechanics is vastly difference between the 2. The GW2 base game story is very boring, but once you get started with the expansion stories, they are amazingly immersive and addictive. It can be difficult in GW2 for people to understand a MMO with no quest list. Instead relying on a story line, hearts and events. Mounts are also earnable and become a requirement to pass parts of the storyline. As there are places you can't go without a particular mount. Mounts can also be used to attack you enemies as well. Path of Fire is the best expansion to get first as it opens up the mount system. Population isn't really a problem, as when the population gets low on the shard you are on, it will prompt you to move to another shard, even granting you a buff to move.

regarding items from the cash shop being available in the game, that is misleading. Short answer: all what is in the cash shop you can get it by just playing the game no need to put more money there the only thing that can only be bought using real money are the expansions the cash shop, sells mostly qol items and skins, and all is account bound (living world seasons) you can turn in game gold to gems (cash shop currency) and gems into gold (there a lot to say about this but for the sake of this argument let's take it as a good) Yes turning gold into gems can be grindy for a new player but at the end game gold comes and goes (so new players more likely will be tempted to turn gems into gold while veterans will mostly only use the option to turn gold into gems)

As an early player of GW2, I love this. Its how I played the game. Get totally immersed in the FREE content. Then open up the expansions when your story get's to them. I suggest buying the max as its the best deal. Only cash shop thing that is annoying is inventory and bank space as the game has ALOT ALOT ALOT of shiz that needs to be banked. Buuuuut...of course in game gold can buy both of these. The rest of the stuff on the shop is convenience and wardrobe. After all, at the end of the day...its FASHION WARS 2...lol But really, once you get into it, get into World VS World, and find a friendly guild that you enjoy sitting in Discord with. You don't have to talk, you need to listen. Follow your commanders orders and you will have a blast. Learn your role and you will become needed. Learn many roles and your will become a Destroyer of WvW and the bags will fall from the sky like a vending machine...roflol...look for the Tyrian Misfits [TM] in WvW and have some fun with us or against us. Oh and if you hear of one of our younger members, Nemesis King, yea. ...kill him first.

You should try out the upcoming Leagues event in Oldschool Runescape. Its a yearly seasonal set of leagues servers where everybody starts fresh with increased experience/drop rates and tiers of permanent buffs you choose at each unlock. Playing last years league was the most enjoyment I've gained from a game in a very long time, I ended up maxing the account and obtaining top tier of the leagues ranking.

❤❤❤I loved this video so much. You nailed it. I just got into gw2 myself this year as well. I've had quite the extensive history with MMOrpg's. Been playing them since WoW first dropped. For some reason I've always had in the back of my mind GW was nothing but a generic ripoff of WoW. So I never tried it. And man do I have regrets. You nailed every topic perfectly. From achievements actually being worth doing to mounts being incredible. And all the little quirks that need tweaking. I feel scared I got to this game late. But if they can give a bit of love to the graphics AND animations.. and clean up the UI, make it a tiny bit more noob friendly then this game has the potential to grow and last a lot lot longer. It could be very well the best MMOrpg out there. The Devs definitely have their heads in the right place. I've never seen a better community and having that in game in depth wiki is so nice. I had so much respect for the Devs I went and bought all the expansions. I just wish the living stories were like 5 bucks each instead of 10. They are a bit pricey for something that is pretty much nessasary for the complete story. So much happens and if you skip them you are left with far too many question. They are amazing but I also feel like it's story telling that isn't extra but kind of should be part of expansions that got left out. If they were side stories particular to character development or something that would be different. I hope the Devs see your vid and maybe even this comment. I really hope they keep pushing. Cuz I look so forward to more. I can't seem to get the addons/mods to work. Not sure why. I just really want a dps meter honestly. To help me improve my rotation and see if I'm doing anything right with my builds. The customization and freedom to do or play however you want is so incredible. There is no "right way" to play or build. It's so refreshing. There is so much reward for guilds and all the little other things most MMO's just brush past your face. My number one biggest gripe is the bag space tho. We'll not exactly bag space ad much as the insanely abundant amount of crap you have to keep. All the different currencies and items that seem important I don't even know what to do with yet. I appreciate the auto deposite and abundance space for craft mats. That's nice as hell. But man is there excessive amounts of items that seem to be made only to ensure you buy more bag space. If it was scaled back just a bit I'm sure everyone would be happier. And it's one less overwhelming obstacle for new players. You want to incentivize new players. I've seen overwhelming things kills noobs interest quick. And I wish for the best for gw2. I'm invested now. Don't make a gw3....just overhaul gw2 and you got it locked in. Ppl don't want to lose what they have made. It's a lot of hard work. And it's amazing. 🎉❤❤❤

18:40 I am sorry but whoever that guy in Chat was was an idiot. Everything in the cash shop with a gem price is earnable through ingame currency because you can convert Gold to Gems. And its not even such a bad grind like in other games that allow for conversion. You can earn alot of gold pretty fast. Unlocking every convinience item is going to take you alot of time still but it would also cost you alot of money otherwise. The only things which are not earneable through ingame currency are things with a direct money tag. Like Expansions and maybe Living World Content (cant remember if the latter was a Gem Value or a direct price in IRL Currency) There are lots of people that play this game who have not spend a single buck on Gems and earned everything they need through ingame gold. As a point of reference: 400 Gold roughly translate to 800 Gems which is 10 Euro. You can earn Gold at roughly 40 g/hour if you do a good farm. So you roughly can earn 1 Euro/hour. Thats not great as an hourly rate for a job but you can unlock alot of things within pretty fast if you farm regularly. And mind you this is not just endless grinding something boring, some of the best gold farms are running meta trains which are the big Map Wide meta events in the game so your farm will be varied and for the most part fun if you enjoy PvE Open World Content, though for a good hourly rate it will obviously be rushed and optimized. But you could always take it slower for a lower Gold/Hour rate. I'd say even at a leisurely pace I can still earn roughly 20g/h if not more.

18:38 That is very misleading, it's not true. You can get everything on the cash shop with gold earned in-game. You can convert your gold to gems and buy stuff on the gem store with your own gold earned through playing the game. I've gotten a lot of quality of life stuff from the cash shop over the years but I've never paid a single dime except to buy expansions!

They should really consider making season 2 free. Now that season 1 is free, it kinda lost all of its value regarding the plot of HoT. Besides they could offer more interesting bundles instead of being forced to either buy all of the content until EoD and spending more for Soto and JW. For example, once season 2 is free, they could offer bundles as follows: HoT with season 3, PoF with season 4, IBS with EoD and Soto with JW for 25-30€ each.

Not going to sugarcoat it for you, but the base story of GW2 is kinda ass, once you get to the first expansion, it really picks up and is actually interesting. Also if you are someone who isn't too sure on spending money towards GW2 skip on buying season 2, its the worst one out of the seasons as it recycles basegame areas instead of giving you new ones like the other seasons do, and it costs more than the other seasons as well, and you get a recap on what happens during it when you start the first big expansion ''Heart Of Thorns''.

You’re really willing to review GW2? I don’t think you should even consider something like that until you’ve both A. Gotten yourself at minimum 16k hours and B. 100% completed the game and played literally EVERYTHING they have to offer. I say this out of love, because I don’t mean to discourage new players to the game, but don’t come to this game if you aren’t willing to sink at minimum 169 hours per week into the game. Buddy of mine (not me) lost his 10 year long relationship to this game. Those are the sacrifices you HAVE to be willing to make for GW2. This “Nefass QS” guy is just a poser and doesn’t even know the half of what GW2 is about. Please be careful with videos from people like this guy.
