This episode probably represents one of the most amazing experiences of our sailing adventures so far. The overnight trip around the Mull of Kintyre was a great experience. Sadly we weren't filming as we rounded Dres point on the south west tip of the Mull. This area is notoriously rough, regardless of the conditions. At 2am in the pitch black a 8-10 foot standing wave hit us out of nowhere, pitched the boat to near vertical (probably not but felt like that), fully submerged the engine. This is the code Brown Jo mentions in the video. Fortunately having timed the tide correctly it was pushing us along at almost 11knots (twice our normal speed) so a few minutes of white knuckling the tiller and we were out of it. Also a little behind the scenes info regarding The "Next Day" screen at 6:44. In the time between the shots on either side of this screen I had a massive vertigo attack due to a condition I have called Ménière's. Spent 2 hours being violently ill and then slept for 17 hours straight. First time I have had one of these episodes on the boat, something I have been concerned about happening. Fortunately, although it wasn't fun being on the boat it didn't actually make much difference. For those that read the comments I though you might be interested to know a bit more about what happens when the camera is not running.

Nice little directors commentary! Sad to hear about the vertigo attack and hopefully they will be few and far in-between now. Sometimes the scariest thing is having an episode for the first time in a new situation and now you have one under your belt it will be less daunting. Great video by the both of you and I appreciate the content and work that both you and Jo put into these vlogs and it is very kind of the both of you to share your experience.

When we got to Oban we met a lovely man called Andy who let us know that if you go further out it's a lot less rough, so I think we will be doing that next time 😂

Post swim breakfast should have been porridge with a dollop of marmalade! Excellent at warming you up and will keep you going all day 😀 Some really great shots this week Jo. Loved the quick look at the stars, one of the great benefits of rural life. As for Tim in those shorts - all he needs is a school cap and he's a match for the mental image I had when reading the Just William stories all those years ago 🤣

2:20 I thought you were going to say you are aware it looks like a teenagers bedroom or a twitch streamers room... Wasn't expecting a brothel 😂

Nice trip guys, gaining more experience a d confidence as you go. Night sailing is awesome. Not so awesome is the cold water, brrrrr, made me feel cold just watching. Andy UK

Thanks Andy, we are getting more and more confident every trip. I was wearing all the clothes I could for the night trip! And even though I got to have a bit of a snooze, due to Skylar bring a pest and wanting to be as close to me as possible, I ended up in the awkward side slump in the video 😂 I think that makes up for Tim having to sit in the cold all night 😂😂😂

Just found your channel and subscribed. Great to watch Living vicariously through your content as my husband does not want to travel further north than Isle of Man 😢.

Great to have you along for our journey ❤️ shame for fella doesn't want to go further north and the isle of man, we haven't been there, but as a newbie sailor I (Jo) have found Scotland an amazing place for me to help build my confidence up on the sheltered lochs and the exploring here is simply amazing. Hopefully he'll change his mind and you can get up here 🤞🤞

@@joandtim 🤣 thought Bev and Gaynor from Salty Lass had him on the ropes last year when we met. He bought a cruise guide 🤣 We’re planning Isles of Scilly return this summer weather permitting and maybe France minus our 3 sons

Only just caught your channel. Love it very explanatory and lovely photography. What is the boat? I have attached a plastic tube similar to a smarty tube to my drone makes it easier to catch on the boat. Still haven’t had the guts to try it though. Keep up the good work.

Welcome aboard! Salty Sea Dog is a Leisure 23 👍 that sounds like a good idea! My other issues with launching from the boat is that, as it's quite small, there are so many wires and ropes to potentially crash into! Think I may invest in a 360 camera, so I can fake drone shots from the boat without risking the drone 😂
