Some context behind the video for those interested. About 10 years ago Jo and I went on our first trip to Scotland. After I had talked about it a decade or more we threw a mattress in the back of our Mondeo estate (station wagon I guess for Americans) and headed North. We had no plan, no destination, no accommodation booked, just a desire to explore the West Coast of Scotland. The idea was that we would drive around and find nice spots to park up for the night. After the first night in a little forest car park we scanned the map looking for roads that went out to the ends of Peninsulas. The thinking being that these might be nice quiet places to spend the night. We spotted a road heading out alongside a strange sounding Loch called Loch Craignish. We followed it, through the picturesque village of Ardfern, through a narrow winding road along the Loch, through a stock gate and a field of sheep and cows until eventually arriving at tiny car park at the end of the peninsula. We had hit the jackpot, after a decade of thinking about and romanticizing the idea of this trip we had stumbled upon absolute perfection and only on our second night. A little parking area, surrounded by fields, lochs, islands and tranquility. An old disused stone quay made the perfect place to sit leg dangling over the loch and watch the sunset over the islands. We ended up staying there for several nights that trip and returned over the next several years for more camping trips, still in the Mondeo. It was that place that ignited the dream of buying a boat and some day sailing into Ardfern on our own boat. It took around 10 years for us to be in a position to buy Salty, round the Mull of Kintyre and make it to Ardfern. That evening, sitting in the garden of the Galley of Lorne Inn, drinking a beer whilst looking over Loch Craignish was a very special moment.
