Awesome truck, the pinstriping comes with the territory of off roading on the trails. I call them battle scars, I don't worry about them at all.

I just did the same thing you did, traded my TRD Off Road Tacoma for a Tundra TRD Pro. Difference between them is huge. Tundra has so much power I don’t even feel I’m towing my camper. Cab space is huge too. The only con is that it likes gas :)

You're doing well with this build Edward. As for the pinstripe, I use magnet skin's but I got mine at a sign shop instead of Smitty built cause I wanted more protection than the stock parts. (Don't buy a Aluminum sided truck)! Instead of plastic dip use lino paint, it goes on cold so you don't have to remove the parts.
@KrokemOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Stephen Bradley thanks for the tips, Stephen! Do you apply the magnet skins before going out on trails, then remove them after?
@sgbradley5 жыл бұрын
@@KrokemOutdoors Like you I live on the West coast on Vancouver Island, but yeah I take mine off unless I know I'm going back to the woods (1/2 a mile away) soon after. I got a full sheet made and then cut it in half or three pieces for the hood, when you have a piece of it the size of the door it makes it awkward to place it exactly square by myself. I also cut them on S or Z shapes so they always go on the same spot. Mines all white but you can have designer colors or graphics if you want but remember that will scratch overtime too.

You need an aluminum plate to span between your two racks on the drivers side. This will allow you to mount the quick fist clamps directly to that instead of the racks themselves. This would also give you many more options for mounting additional gear.
@louie43165 жыл бұрын
Or you can do what I've seen before, just cut out a piece of wood 3/8 thick. Paint it black and bolt it in to tie those two racks together on the side. looks good and you have the satisfaction of knowing that you made it.

You know I have a very overactive imagination, access to several good metal shops near me for materials and the tools/skills to remedy some or most of your rack/shovel mount/awning issues. New subscriber here! Been watching your vids mainly because i plan on building my rig out of my full-sized ram1500. Love the content! Just wanted to share a quick tip regarding the plasti-dip. For chips and scratches, you can actually just wipe the area clean then generously spray more of the plastidip on and around the damaged area. I dont know the chemistry behind it but it has a thinning agent in it and it basically “melts”/ blends itself into the old paint and shouldn’t cause any streaks.
@JonDZ_Adventuring5 жыл бұрын
My Honda Passport is getting pinned stripped! 😱 Surprisingly, this vehicle is almost as wide as a Tundra (79.9” vs. 78.6”). Luckily the pin stripping hasn’t got down to my paint yet, and it’s not too too noticeable. I’ve thought up a solution, I just haven’t got around to working on my project. Dude! The two person effect is awesome! I don’t think my video editing software is capable of that. I have never seen that before, so great job with the production of this video 👍

Toyota justs needs to offer a "chrome package" option for the rare few that actually want it and leave chrome off the rest of the trims.... The vast majority of Tundra owners dont want it and spend hundreds to thousands trying to remove it. But maybe thats part of the business plan for toyota. Make more money off the people knowing they will be getting OEM parts to cover up the chrome
