One of my most favourite songs ever and i've been around, for 72 years...Nicki's fantastic harmony just adds a cherry on the cake!

The first song I can remember. I was 4 years old in 1962 and my parents played it on a 45 over and over. I'm 57 now and just sang it to my mother on the phone. she was floored that I remembered it. :)

What a Singer. fancy leaving him off the best 50 singers ever in Auastralia. He was the Best. His song I remember you is still vivid in my mind. Plus he was the best looking male singer ever. Good on you Frankie. Bob Stiles

This song made such a huge impression on me when I was only 8 or 9 years old in the early sixties, that even though I hadn’t heard it again until just this week I have remembered Franks voice and sung the first few lines of it all my life. It was amazing to hear it again after all these years. There are a number of renditions out there on KZbin of great singers who have copied Frank’s rendition of the song, and all quite good, but none have the clarity and power of his. I think this duet with Niki Gillis is worthy of the song’s original acclaim. A timeless song without a doubt!

Tell me about it ! I was that young, too, when I heard it on KFWB and so odd, I woke up this morning and for some reason it popped into my head from.....who know ? His falsetto technique always was what kept the song in the back of my mind. I didn't know his name, so I did a search for the song and, here we are. So cool. Check out Frank's great micr. technique, with lots of space between his mouth and the micr. Would that today's performers would do that, instead of "eating the micr."

Rhonda, come on....This rendition is fabulous! It captures the energy of the original, and Nicki just adds more and more. And the obvious joy they shared in putting this duet together is a big plus! This just heaps more perfection upon the original! I can listen to this all day long.

Funny, I don't remember hearing the original on my little transistor radio around 1962. BUT, 15 or 20 years later when I heard it on a oldies station it seemed like I'd been hearing it ALL my life. Really good song & updated duet is very nice. :-)

I've read the positives and negatives. To me, it's a haunting song. Haunting in a good way. Since I first played it, it ricochets around in my brain for a week or two …or more; awake, asleep, vocalized and silent, reminiscing over "All the Girls I've Loved before." (N&E) This rendition satisfies my soul.

This is great - Nicki brings something extra to the song, glamour, a great voice (and the verse which I'd never heard before - was it in Tahiti, etc...) and of course Franks energy and joy is the same as ever. This is special thanks for posting. A classic given a new lease of life. I Remember You was a single that did something different, and will never be forgotten

harmonize in the way that the Everly Brothers did. I was just goofing around on You Tube when "I remember you" by group called "Skid Row" popped up. I remembered this title from my grammar school days, and that I loved it then. The tune by "Skid Row" turned out to be a totally different song and I didn't even let it play to the end.

Her harmony is off in a couple places - the chord under "thrill of them all" is a minor chord, but she's singing a major 3rd, there - when she should be singing a minor 3rd. If I didn't know the song so well, and wasn't a vocal arranger - I probably wouldn't have noticed. But there you are. Love making the song a duet - and have adored Frank Ifield ever since I first saw him sing this song on Ed Sullivan.
@cindybear2 ай бұрын
I’m sorry, but her harmony is way off in several places. Don’t know what happened, but I’ll just stick with Frank Ifield’s solo version.

Can't argue with you, except to say that most people of a certain age will simply not listen to anything unless it has a name they recognize. For me I listen to the original. Also big fan of his renditions of Waltzing Matilda and You Came Along.

Look at that great micr. presentation technique ! The "singers" these days could take a lesson from that. But, it seems they always have a need to get right up against the micr., and it covers their mouth, lips, face, etc. Viscerally satisfying to the "singer", but not visually satisfying nor pleasing to the viewer.
@57Rhon11 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry...her voice does not do this song or Frank Ifield justice. She seems off key and doesn't seem to have the range....I simply don't think she harmonized well. He is of such high calibre as a singer....why would he agree to this collaboration?
