A nice work area for sure! We all need our own space to create - from a room to a space in the garage so our mess does not have to be cleaned up from each crafting section.
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. It's great when you have the space to do that. Some people don't have the space and have to find creative ways to store it so it's easy to pull out when they want to work, but can easily put it all away. Table skirts are perfect for this because you can just pull it out from underneath! LOL :) Thanks, Dennis!

@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
Hey, Maria! Thanks for the tip. I don't think it will sink in because the wood is pretty thick, and the span of the gap isn't too wide, I don't think. If I am hoisting really heavy things up on it, I'll see if it starts to sink and will take that suggestion to heart! Thank you! :)

$400- For an "Estate" Pool-Table + All of the materials and tools to turn it into a work table is not what I think of Thrift diving....Love all of your ideas.
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
Jose, I didn't buy it yesterday, I actually bought it 8 years ago when I moved into my house. $400 for a quality pool table when it probably cost $4,000 was actually a good deal when I bought it. I just didn't use it the way I thought I would and it's been taking up space. Repurposing it into something else without destroying it was the perfect solution.
@adorabledeplorble84976 жыл бұрын
I am 50/50 on this one, but then I play a LOT of pool 😎 For those who might not want to do the “sticking anything to the wood” and applying the skirt in that manner, I might suggest a way to do both a usable pool table plus the surface craft area. We have a ping pong top for the pool table which enlists a set of (8) smooth two by fours standing freely on edge to essentially make two hollow boxes of support directly on the felt, bringing the support up to where the wood rails of the pool table are at an even height with the two by fours and not stressed under the ping pong setup. The ping pong table itself is in two pieces, joined with some rabbit ear type brackets in the center seam each time we put it together - this has a small join crack which is incidental due to the net which is needed for ping pong, so I’d have to think on that for a minute to make the craft table a more continuous piece. My thought is to make this craft area like a second ping pong table installation, using your idea to then make the non-ping pong table topper just like the ping pong topper, but with a wipeable surface. I like your idea! I just don’t think I want anything even “that” permanent as the skirt 😎 Great idea nonetheless 👍

Nope, it shouldn't cave in! The middle section is also being supported on the sides of the table, so since it has support all the way around, it should be fine! :)

beautiful craft table...what I'd give for one like that...tfs
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Martine! If I had know it would turn out so nice and be so resourceful, I think I would have done it ages ago. But it wasn't until the NEED presented itself that I was like, "Okay, well, let me turn this pool table into a crafting table." Man, I could have saved myself many a cold/hot days working outside in the garage or driveway when I could have just been working with a project on this table! Smh....LOL
@catgirldo76466 жыл бұрын
That looks so good. Really good. Perfect size, too. One question: did you have to put in some kind of support in the middle between the plywood top and the pool table to keep the plywood from bowing?
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Nope, I didn't put any support in the middle. The table isn't that wide, just a bit over 4 feet, and I cut the wood across the grain to fit the width of the table, so the grain and the width are perpendicular, so it's pretty strong and I don't foresee it bowing anytime soon. I'll keep you posted on how the table holds up!
@catgirldo76466 жыл бұрын
I have to tell you this story. I remembered you posted a video about a chain saw or some hefty piece of equipment. I needed to cut down a large amount of saplings so I walked into Home Depot, got me a nice salesman (who has assisted me in the past) and I purchased a 10 inch battery-operated chain saw and cut all the saplings down and holy cow was that ever fun. The 10 inch was just perfect for the job and it just makes me smile (really big big smile) to think that I actually own a chainsaw and its all due to you and your brilliant cleverness. I just love how you are so confident with tools and so THANK YOU.
@nikkibonbon16006 жыл бұрын
Love your videos and beautiful projects. But im wondering how come you didn't let the table legs show? Why the fabric?
@ThriftDiving6 жыл бұрын
I was having a camera crew come to my house to film me making a project and I didn't know how much of the table they were going to show (if any). I wanted to make sure that none of the legs were exposed. Plus, I like the idea of using the table underneath for out-of-sight storage. :) Thanks for watching!!
